Going vegan

Who here has done it? What are some of the less obvious things you had to give up? Isn't some alcohol not vegan? Couldn't be dealing with that like but I'd like to stop eating meat and dairy

This really, why let someone else's ethics dictate what you eat if you don't neccessarily believe in them?

Its not about following rules it's about not eating any animals products lol, I like animals init. Was vegetarian for about 5 years so shouldn't be too hard.

We try to eat vegan / vegi 3 or 4 days a week and might have some meat on the other days. We try to buy our meat responsibly (where the animals have been treated better) but I'm more for cutting down for the environment sake. If everyone ate plant based a few days a week and meat production was reduced it'd massively help with global warming.

This. Some people bang on about it like they are morally superior. Every vegan cheats or is hypocritical in one way or another.

I stopped eating beef years ago. I'll probably never stop eating seafood.

Tried some moose meat that my neighbour shot at xmas. I love the idea of hunting for your own meat and not contributing to the meat industry.

Having cut out most dairy due to (hopefully temporary) digestive issues, it's a resounding "Fuck, NO" from me. Life without cheese is not worth living. And it goes without saying that almost all vegan substitutes for dairy are vile, apart from nut milks which are great on porridge.

...is this what you want???

Giving up pork, beef and lamb was extremely easy for me, eventually i caved in and started eating chicken again though mainly so i could go out for food with other people , it is quite shit when you're somewhere out and you're the only one who can't get anything on the menu, i don't like feeling like i'm being difficult or fussy. Usually the token veggie option is some awful shite but i think things are improving now.

I tried almond milk in my tea today, initially i didn't like it but i think i'd quickly get used to it. Maybe soy milk would be better? I'd rather my tea didn't taste and smell like almonds, ideally.

Vegan cheese surely can't be good? I'm going to buy a load of vegan stuff and give it a trial run

I've heard of a mushroom that has the taste and texture of chicken which I'm keen to try. I do love my veg so reckon I could find enough good food to make it work.

I couldn't go full vegan just because I love a cup of tea so much. Tried the milk options you suggested and couldn't get on with them. I'm not against farming animals so long as they're treated right, I just hate thought of animals being killed to satisfy my greed.

Hunting is highly regulated. If you shoot an animal you don't have tickets for. You could possible do jail time

Slicing their neck and letting them bleed to death isn't treating them right lol

Think he was implying he's ok with milk as it's only a bit of a titty grab.

Usually the veggie option is either mac n cheese or spicy bean burger. Pretty frustrating for the veggie in the family.

Although, restaurants are wising up.

Go to Norway, or Scandinavia. You'll get bread, and possibly olives.

This. Killing animals in anyway I'm not cool with. Farming for dairy products providing the animals aren't kept in cages is fine.

I can see the logic behind going veggie tbf, but vegan just seems a step too far. Fuck that.
