The thought of Rudiger counselling kids with issues is fucking brilliant. If they knew half of what you got up to, those kids would be counselling you.

My previous job was for a company and they were all Plymouth Brethren Christians... lovely people, but had no life outside of work and their church/community...

My contracted hours were 7:30-4:30 but I had a sales meeting at 7am every morning regardless. And if I was at the London office then I still had to be there at that time despite living in a Coventry. I'd also be made to look a,prick for leaving on time, to such an extent that I started working longer and longer hours.

Now I'm at a much more relaxed place, hours 8:30-4:45 and I can't think of one occasion I haven't left on time (although admittedly I'm in the office around 7:30 nearly every day... the best time to get things done imo).

When there is shitloads to do and the pressure is on, I can turn the afterburners on and smash stuff out all day, 10 - 12 hour days.

Yeah that's me. Struggle to get focused at all without pressure, but when it's on I'm the fucking man.

I've said this to numerous people on here before, but what you are describing is a classic symptom of inattentive adhd.

I realised by chance over a year ago that i had it and got diagnosed last year.

Effective treatment and therapy can be life-changing.

Nah I’m just apathetic about work until there’s a real possibility that I could get in trouble lol

I’m super organised in everything else in my life.

Too hard, got too many projects on at the moment. Currently trying to cut down on out-of-hours work while also trying to learn to code.

I just find my job, overall, a pretty boring thing to do. I totally fell into what I'm doing and have no real propensity for it. The pressure of deadlines and delivery, managing teams etc is 1000 times more motivating to me than the actual work which I've been trying to get out of pretty much since I got into it lol.
I could also have what you describe, the inside of my head is pretty messed up 😀

Does anyone else convince themselves if they were in a different job they'd work harder? I did that, changed job, and realised I'm actually just a lazy prick.

Accepted my fate in life now.

I used to work 5 12hr night shifts years ago. Sometimes if we were behind we would have to go in another night. 72hr weeks. Fucking killing yourself to live.

The last job was rotating 6am - 2pm, 2pm to 9pm, 9pm to 6am. Although we only did 4 nights. They were killer hours but great pay.

Different job, now work flexi-ish between 7 or 8 to 3 or 4 with a shorter day on Friday. Feel like a normal human. Able to do shit and not be shattered all the time. Should start selling food to make up the pay gap tho

The first job above was shop fitting. Did that for 7 or 8 years but it wasn't airways 5 12 hours, only the last couple of years.

The second job was dimensional inspection. I couldn't hack the shifts and pretty much gave up towards the end.

Now I'm in tools calibration and far, far happier. Get in just after 7, leave just after 3

Nah, if no ones life is in danger then it’s not important.

My mate gets all stressed with project managing refrigeration for supermarket builds. Packs don’t turn up on site and he has to explain to some spotty twat from Aldi that the store opening will be delayed. Fuck. That.

No ones gonna die because a shop didn’t open the day they said it would.

Too hard TBF. To the point that my brain don't even work that much and I tend to self medicate to "switch off".
Also come on here for randomness in the hope of light entertainment but this is rarely the case. I just end up moaning on here or in real life as my brain and body is probably saying quit. Anyway. My 2 pence to the question.

I worked for some of these nutters in a company in Ryton, a lot of them were incredibly strange.  All the women who worked there were never seen again after getting married, that's you in the community forever.  The company was a fucking mess as well because they gave almost all the senior positions to other members of the community, so you had people with no practical experience at all running massive production operations.

this place was in Wyken... although all our work was in the London 'city'....

Yes the women got married and then didn't ever have to work again.... their tradition is the women are still 'housewives' and the husband is the bread-winner.

This company were pretty switched on (and doing very well), but I did think they got ran around by the big national/London main contractors, and could have done with some more hard-nosed people from outside their community.

I enjoyed my time there... apart from the hours and the incredible workload... the atmosphere in the office was amazingly quiet, no swearing, etc.... and I had to have my lunch separate from everyone as they can only eat with people who 'break bread', I.e from their community. This was probably a bonus though as I'm a miserable twat.

For the last 5 years I've been doing about 5 hours work a day. Don't usually start until midday. And my job is easy as fuck. Leaves me loads of time to churn out shitty beats, trawl the net for porn, cook amazing dinners, or go to the beach/leer at Spanish girls.

Prior to that I did 7 years at Oxford University in the 9-5 grind. Not so much fun.

About to move to Canada, no idea what I'll do for work, dreading it really as I haven't worked properly for years LOL. Still, legal weed & maple syrup.

Definitely the worst time of year for getting shit done. Xmas break should be extended to cover the entire of winter really.

Depends on who I work for. Im past jobs if they treat me well, I work 95% of the day. My last job I must have barely worked 1 hour in a 12 hour shift. Would find places to sleep to pass the time. Would take 3 hour breaks without anyone knowing. Job before was hard work but I loved it.

I knew a guy that had an auto-response set up for CCs, it said "if you have CCd me I will assume I don't need to read it and your email has been deleted - if you need me to do something, please email me"

respect imo, cc gets abused by most

My mate told me about the senior consultant at the hospital where he works who has his out of office saying

I'm on leave between X and Y dates and when I return I will be deleting all emails sent during this time, if it's important please re-send when I'm back at work.

That is higher level.
