How hard do you work?

I've done fuck all this morning so far.

Generally takes me about 3 hours to get warmed up. I'll check all my favourite websites a bunch of times, watch a bunch of stuff on youtube, might faff about looking for some new music for a bit, then I'll eventually get in the zone and work hard for maybe 45 minutes before lunch.

Slightly better in the afternoon, might get 2 hours proper work done. When I work in the evening I get loads done. The day is definitely the wrong way around for me.

I'm only making this thread to put off work for a little longer.

Fucking work.

100% me. WFH today and so far I've made a list of things I need to do. Then decided not to do it.

I've always somehow got away with working hard for 2/3 hours a day and fitting in what most people in a day, but it tends to be between 5-8pm rather than than the times I should be in work.

Same. tend to spend the morning dicking around on the internet and making lists of what i should be doing, and maybe ticking off a few of the easy bits, then taking a 90min-2 hour lunch break if i can get away with it.
Main window of productivity is generally 2-5pm.

I'm much better if i work from home for some reason.

When there is shitloads to do and the pressure is on, I can turn the afterburners on and smash stuff out all day, 10 - 12 hour days.

However, this very rarely happens. On a normal day I probably do a solid 2 hours lol.

I took a permanent job in the public sector because the expectation of productivity is so low.

I get loads more done if I'm still here when everyone's gone or if I'm in at the weekend.

I used to work from home in my last job. More often than not I'd get everything done before lunchtime and spend the rest of the day on standby trying (and generally failing) to resist the urge to have a smoke lol.

Tbh I found it more distracting being at the office, I churn stuff out a lot quicker when I haven't got people talking to me and don't have to stop and go downstairs for fag breaks.

Yeah that's me. Struggle to get focused at all without pressure, but when it's on I'm the fucking man.

I imagine that the people who get properly rich are the ones with the discipline to put in that level all day everyday.

I will never be properly rich.

I am married to an complete workaholic, she cannot be stopped. 9pm finishes are pretty regular and she will not reply to non work emails or texts during the day.

Then we talk about her work when she gets in.

She earns more than me, but not significantly.

She will be though. I've topped out really, but she is still going strong and is definitely gonna go up again. By which time she will be doing very well for herself.

Had this conversation recently with two female friends who both claimed that they spent 95-100% of their working day doing work.

I enjoy my job but that is utterly insane imo

Working hard all the time is utterly pointless. It leaves you nowhere to go when the shit hits the fan. You need to always leave 5th gear in reserve so you can get people out of the trouble and receive bare props.

+1 for turning it up when the pressures on.

11.40 and my boss has sent me 2 urgent things to look at. I'm gonna get some lunch, go for a stroll, then probably tuck into them around 2pm.

The worst part about mine is that I need to be chained to my desk 9-5 pretty much, I never know when someone is going to call me because something is broken. Going out for a walk or to get some lunch or whatever is significant planning excercise.

it's all about making the day to day stuff look fairly effortless so people think you're a real committed company guy and can be relied upon to turn it on when the pressure is on.
One guy i work with treats every project like a high pressure task and gives off the impression that he's permanently stressed by things that should be pretty straightforward. He's been here 11 years with no promotion.

People that constantly stay late in the office are cunts. They either have too much and need to speak to their boss, have poor time management and organisational skills, they're kiss arses who want to look good or they're sad cunts with no life outside of work.

I work exactly the same as you, and can turn it up when needed. Which I don't do often, so that the expectation isn't there lol.

I also work really well from home, as I have some sub-conscious guilt that everyone will think I am slacking.

My other half is the same. She gets mad when I tell her how my day went and how little gets done.

I'd get in at 8am before any other fuck could start asking me questions, reply to every email in about 10 mins, update my billings, check out the big spenders then make some prospects to call later. I probably did an hour or two work a day most days but sometimes I'd smash fuck out of it if I was in a good mood. Haven't worked for a while though so my work ethic is going to be at an all time low when I get my next job. Probably fucking sales again but I guess I can smash it if I really want a build the bank back up.

Need more work from home though. It's incredibly gay working 7-8 hours a day 5 days a week. Incredibly gay

Probably 3 - 4 hrs a day. I've only been here 8 weeks. So laid back compared to my previous job.

I did have a job where I did precisely fuck all. Maybe 45mins of work and the rest watching tv series. That was fucking ace.

Imagine how hard it must be working in a McDonald's for pittance. Actually working flat out for 7 hours. I'd probably have a nervous breakdown and fry my face off to end the suffering.

Worked like a pig all summer. Sweating my tits off, drinking litres of water and never pissing.
Now I'm back in my field again and its bliss. Spend alot of time driving between jobs, waiting in my truck for contacts to show up or mooching around the office.

Worked with a cunt like this at JLR.  Would routinely brag about how he was putting the hours in and staying until 8PM every day while looking down on me for getting the fuck out of there bang on time every day, despite the fact we got the same amount of work done every month.  The worst thing is we had the type of thick, impressionable boss who would actually be impressed by such a facile show and would constantly suck him off for his "dedication".  I really don't miss the politics of working in places like that.
