Wtf is a golden axe?

A megadrive game

It was great, iirc.

Used to play king of the monsters a lot too, I remember it being a decent multiplayer beat em up where you could pick up buses and clatter your opponent with them lol

Looking back at game play footage, it looks crap now.

MegaDrive games

Outrun
Elemental Master (is fucking hard, amazing music)
Quackshot
Jewel Master
Gynoug
Skitchin
Road Rash
Thunder Fox

So glad I kept my Japanese collection of games, the artwork was always fantastic.

No mention for Donkey Kong Country trilogy? The platformers are the ones that have aged the best like those, Mario World 1 and 2 and Sonic 1-3.

Bomberman was good

There was some medieval fantasy sidescroller where you had a choice of 3 characters and collected potions to let a dragon come down and blast everything but I can't remember what it was called...

That was Golden Axe

Yep! Better than Streets of Rage imo but I could never complete it... Golden Axe was much longer

Have to admit I could never finish golden axe even with a mate. The last bit was fucking nails.

Streets of rage ending was cool how you could fight your friend and join the boss instead.

Shadowrun on the SNES - isometric cyberpunk RPG. Bit of an obscure one but still probably in my all time top 10 just for how much I loved it at the time.

Completed both Streets Of Rage and Golden Axe. The real toughie was Revenge Of Shinobi (the other game on the Mega Games 2 cartridge), which was next to impossible....  unless of course you used the cheat...  on the options screen, change the ammo setting to zero, and after ten seconds it changed to infinite ammo....  pretty easy then imo….!

Streets Of Rage was probably the most playable, despite being easiest of the three.

I still remember the noise it makes when you did the ammo cheat.. and the first level music. Fuck that game was nails.

There's a few shadowrun games on steam that are isometric but up to date / xcom style. Perhaps they might be up your cul de sac Noc

Playing Mario Kart against Emily is one of my best parenting experiences so far.

Although she's starting crying now she's realised she's coming 12th everytime.

F Zero, I remember the first time I saw it on my mates Super Famicom, I was into the Amiga at the time but there was no way it could throw the screen around like that. It still looks great now imo.

Shadow dancer was basically a knock off of shinobi but it was better

Area 88 / UN Squadron was great, wish they’d put it on the Classic.
