Post sick film scores

Was sure there'd be a thread on this but google says no.

Went to see Creed II last night, it's kinda average but I enjoyed it for what it is. It reminded me how much I liked bits of the score from the first Creed though, both of which were done by Ludwig Göransson who ALSO did Black Panther. Killmonger's theme from Black Panther is sick, hence I dun a thread.

Yes, I like it because it's got a big b-line.

So much amazing stuff out there, post sick film scores.

Everything Clint Mansell, especially the Fountain.

Sicario & Arrival were both fantastic, unfortunately Johann Johannsson who did the music for both died last year, was only 48, shiter.

Not films I know but Brian Reitzell who composed the soundtrack for Hannibal and American gods is a g, he's also got a solo album on Spotify which is sick as well.  Ramin Djawadi the Game of thrones and Westworld compsoser is another one.

I only watched Nightcrawler recently because evidently I'm a massive spastic.  I thought it, and the soundtrack, were fucking great.

it upsets me how much this piece of music has been rinsed on totally bullshit BBC cooking programs, etc.

this piece of music is harrowing in the context of the film - especially the end scene with the fucking double dildos and arm all fucked up and the 'can you come home now'.

IT'S NOT FOR BAKING TO

Blade Runner is my favourite album ever, film score or otherwise. 2049 soundtrack didn't live up to the original in the way the movie did in general but Mesa is still the track I've listened to more than anything else since it came out.

The original Vangelis soundtrack is so perfectly fitting and ahead of its time it would've been difficult for 2049 to match or better it, but they did a pretty good job imo. Agree Mesa is the standout track, spine tingling.

Don't smoke much green these days but when I get the occasional bit in the original soundtrack goes on every time to mong out to.

I smoke nearly every day and listen to it nearly every day, I could never give that shit up. Check out 'Mesa extended' on YouTube, it's the version I listen to as the original is over far too quickly. When it comes on during the film its one of my favourite moments in movie history despite not much actually happening, its just dripping with atmosphere and emotion

John Williams is an obvious one to mention, but he's such a don. Listening to anything of his instantly transports me back to being a kid.

Random example:

PS I saw Star Wars with the London Symphony Orchestra the other week and it was quite good.

Hanz Zimmer is another obvious shout but his scores are iconic. True Romance sticks out.

There's a concert of his in Prague on Netflix which is worth checking.

For A Few Dollars More possibly even better... the pocket-watch, etc. Also an equally good film as Good, Bad, Ugly.

Brad Fiedel’s Terminator score is probably my all time favourite. It’s been posted here before but the way the music evolves in this nightclub scene is epic:

+1 for the first Terminator film. Absolute masterpiece.

++1 on Requiem for a Dream theme being totally bastardised and overused in massively inappropriate contexts

This is just god damn flawless as well.

L'Atalante, an old timey French film has a beautiful score. I can't find much more than this online, but you'll know what I mean if you watch the film.

That Requiem one is too associated with X-Factor now. For some reason I used to watch that film all the time on a session, no wonder I was a messed up teenager.

Jennifer Connelly tho

The Thing soundtrack is a good subtle moody one. I had always assumed that Carpenter did it himself, but it was Ennio Morricone.

I know it's corny but I fucking love this lol

It makes me feel excited, and not just in a sexy way. When I hear it I wanna go run around a castle and swing on a rope or some shit. Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

Dave Grusin's score to 3 Days Of The Condor. think Lewis Parker's sampled just about every track on there

Goblin's score to Dario Argento's Tenebrae.
