What's happened to Hazard? Sure he hasn't released anything for ages.

Anyway, post tunes...

He plays loads of his dubs in his sets, got bare fresh stuff, just picky with what he releases. Proper perfectionist.

Couple from his last EP are persys, unsurprisingly went under the radar a bit as the title track was bricks don't roll.

Check out PA aswell if you don't already know of them, gotta feeling H might have a hand in that stuff too.

Fucking love his FabricLive mix. 50 tracks, lots of wobble, lots of variety, no fucking MCs. Draw for it a lot.

...is this what you want???

Re: Hazard 2018/09/24 08:31:21 (permalink)
think he's been concentrating on his b2b sets with hype and for whatever reason hasn't been making many tunes for a couple of years, just not getting into studio work. he said something in an interview this year. can't find it, but there's this one 2017

https://ukf.com/words/hazard-music/20284

I was going to start by asking you where the hell some new music is. But then I read an interview with you saying you’d spent three months in the studio but didn’t like what you’d made during that time…

Yeah. Three months at the start of the year. I’ve not been back in the studio since.

This is really sad to hear!

It happens man and you have to go with that. It’s happened my whole career. Years ago I’d be like ‘shit! Why I can’t write tunes?’ But now I’m used to it. When I get that feeling I just go ‘ah, one of them again’ and ride it out. When it’s time to go back in again, you feel it and nothing can stop you. It’s a feeling.

I love Hazard (why can't more jump-up producers be like him?) but Selector is utterly terrible imo

I actually always liked Zen the most by far of that bunch of jump up producers who were big in the 00s, he had a dark edge to his sound. Early G dub and Taxman was great too. It all went pear shaped.

Hazard is definitely unique though.

Why is this and Skankers near on impossible to mix? Genuine question, I'm a total amateur but I never worked it out. Some half time/weird timecode/drum pattern?

Skankers is normal
Western Riddim has a swing beat

Re: Hazard 2018/09/24 21:31:05 (permalink)
Skankers sounds like it has a slight swing to it to me, obviously not to the same degree as Western. In other words each beat isn't divided equally into quarters meaning that if you mix with a non-swing beat you've got a guaranteed clang, it's a fairly common problem when mixing 2-step garage.

A couple of solutions if two beat patterns aren't compatible like that is to either avoid mixing the percussion elements together or just chop the shit out of it.

So much better jump up around these days. This sound hasn't aged well at all. Sounds pony compared to what some of the new producers are putting out now e.g. Serum etc.
