Obviously there's that site that tells you

presumably by "that site" you're referring to https://www.whosampled.com/ (unless there's another place with a similarly impressive database, which I doubt).

also, I'll just leave this here...

I am not sure we needed a massively tedious explanation of the Amen break voiced by a monotone American, but you go ahead... it's fine to join in.

thanks for letting me join in. wasn't aware I needed your permission, but next time I feel like making a 100% relevant, valid and informative contribution to a thread on here I'll make sure it gets your "approval" first before I dare to go ahead and post it okay? (sarcasm)

You don't need my permission, that's why i said "it's fine to join in"  (not sarcasm)

I feel like you have sort of missed the point of this thread tho, while everybody else was posting obscure Hip-Hop / Soul tunes as the source of popular D&B vocal snippets, you decide to post a tedious 10 min video on a break we already know everything about.

Perhaps i'm being a bit harsh, what with you being relatively new and that. And let's face it, these boards are pretty dead now, so I shouldn't really be too critical of anyone's postings.

Was a great moment the first time I watched that and heard the sampling there. High Contrast used to be great for it.

Isn’t the lack of sampling in D&B now also down to the fact that clearance is needed far more often?

I’d say so. Algorithms, lawyers, anything that could take the fun out of anything have stopped a lot of folks being able to make a tune out a sample. It still happens but it’s not as overt, they’re often buried or manipulated to make them harder to find.

Probably got more to do with the fact that young producers don't have anything good to sample, it's not like they're inheriting their parents music collections anymore since Music Magpie resold them all.

People who know you IRL ratted you out

In the history of the forum only one person "knows me IRL". I have met a handful of others briefly at raves over the years but nobody I'd know well enough to admit that sort of shit to, even if it was true, which it 100% isn't.

My experience with whores is limited to a forgettable encounter on Dam's red light district many years ago - I've certainly never been down on one and I can say that with hand on heart, swearing on my kids' lives.

As for "manic depression", I've had some mental health issues in the past which I've openly admitted on here many times so it's not exactly a big secret. It's never got as far as bipolar though, thankfully. The fact that you're drawing for it as if it's some kind of embarrassing insult says more about you than me though, tbf.

What's obviously happened here is someone's had you on, fed you some bullshit for a laugh and you've swallowed it as the gospel truth because why wouldn't you? Don't try and drop it like it's some kind of truth bomb though, lol.

As for "keep my name out of your mouth" read the thread back and remind me who it was who came out swinging with personal insults and bullshit gossip over an old hip hop tune? Tbh I'm way past bickering with strangers on the internet these days, I thought you were too but old habits die hard I guess.

Tl:dr

You keep making sly digs about things that happened 8+ years ago, at the earliest in other threads. I’m not SW14 so I ain’t gonna sit here digging the quotes either. You’re many things, but not thick, so don’t play the white man. Simple 👍

That said; maybe you are a retard if you think someone’s ‘had me on’, but please keep up and I’ll start getting personal. IIRC you didn’t seem to like that too much judging by the PM’s I got from people.

Re: Who sampled (finding tunes randomly that were sampled) 2018/05/15 21:10:04 (permalink)
Is this about me bringing up the Domino incident a few weeks back? Shit, I thought enough time had passed that we could look back and laugh about that sort of shit now but if you took it as a dig, apologies, it certainly wasn't meant as one.

Like I say, the only people I've ever met from the forum are limited to a handful of randoms I've spent a few hours with in loud clubs and raves in the early/mid 00s. I've been out of the country since 2008. Whoever you've been chatting to who claims to know me, honestly doesn't.

You can start "getting personal" if you really want to but as I say, I thought we were way past that sort of playground shit now. I don't really do internet beef any more so I won't be getting drawn into it.

I wouldn’t really say we’re on a level to have that kinda banter, but apology accepted if your comments weren’t meant at digs.

Let’s go back to being grown up and just squash it 👊

Obviously an obvious one obviously. I still just find it a bit amusing that these guys would have been flicking through these sort of records for their gangsta shit. Mateys probably like WTF are you listening to

"relatively new"? I signed up to this place in '06 - two years before you. So relatively speaking that makes me the 'old hand' around here, hombre. But as you seem to be relenting we'll let it slide. Peace.
