Has anyone tried that The Big Deal/Look After My Bills group that seem to be tied in with 38 degrees? Keep getting emails from them but it sounds a bit too good to be true. Anyone had any experience with them?

Lol at Gutless trying to shamelessly poach Daz's clients
I've had a look and Bulb works out a bit cheaper for me, so I'll be witching at the end of the week when the direct debits match up with my other bills.
Another £50 coming your way soon Daz.

oh hey man, that's great - thank you!

it's worth remembering the following as well - if you use their online system you can go in and change your direct debit date to whatever day you'd like, whenever you like. they also take your money up front to pay for the energy up front - so when I joined they decided that based on my previous usage they'd direct debit me for £62.xx each month. after giving them 3 meter readings they currently recommend that I pay a minimum of £45 a month. because I've accumulated some credit for referrals I've now adjusted down to £5 per month until I work through the credit.

I've never seen such a user-friendly system. they're literally happy for you to set your own direct debit amount as long as it covers the minimum amount to pay your next month's energy bill.

obviously once my referral credit dries up I'll need to up it again but it feels much more user-friendly and informative than British Gas who used to just charge whatever the fuck they wanted without really alluding to how they'd got to that number. Bulb show you how they work out your 'estimated' usage and then put it next to what you actually use on a graph so you can see they're not fiddling you.

it's great to see people joining up because they're a breath of fresh air. their advisers on the phone are UK based, friendly and helpful too. good to see what appears to be an honest company using renewable energy and sticking two fingers up at the big six.

I’ve been with bulb for 9 months and they’ve gone up three times.

Always worth checking money saving experts energy club before you join any new provider.

Re: Switching Energy Suppliers 2018/07/02 14:25:08 (permalink)
yeah man, there's been an increase in the few months I've been with them as well.

they always seem happy enough to explain the reasons in their blog post - quite informative:
https://bulb.co.uk/blog/energy-price-watch-changes-to-our-energy-prices-june

We don’t like doing price increases. And we’re sad to be doing our second this year. We much prefer a decrease. Since Bulb was founded in 2015, we’ve dropped our price seven times and this is only our third increase. We’re committed to pricing fairly. And we’ll always stick to our principles. If you think we’re straying away from them, let us know.

can't count the number of times British Gas ramped up the prices whilst I was with them tbf without so much as a 'fuck you' letter in the post.

will be interesting to see how Bulb go - they're taking a huge chunk of the market share at the moment - I don't suppose they'll want to piss that down the drain by becoming uncompetitive.

also, no exit fees or contract so if they do start fucking shit up you can just up and leave when you feel like it.

i'm currently with tonik, was with ovo. both have the same stuff about direct debits and uk based customer service, with fixed tariffs. just plug your annual usage into a comparison site. i don't think i'd go any more obscure than those 3. fuck the big providers.

for sure man, just nice to see some companies that appear to have some positive ethics and decent prices starting to get a look in; in a market that has been abused for far too long by big companies who forgot what customer service and being competitive is. they will either have to follow suit or face being left behind.

Innit 😂😂😂

Gutless has gone to ground on a 3 month coke binge and reinvented himself as a Machiavellian grifter, trying to poach referral leads off the forum’s in house stoner who got him on it himself.

Proper lib mate 😂

I need to look at my tariff in the next couple of weeks.

If I do end up going with bulb I'll go with Gutless's referral link due to Daz announcing in the politics thread he wants us to all face armageddon, whilst he's in Nice with his trotters up.

First Utility are a bunch of cunts. Twat upstairs used the address of the house all our converted flats are in for a quote rather than his flat address and First Utility switched every flat other than his over to them without anyone's permission. Everybody kept paying their direct debits to their respective energy suppliers and one day we all got bills for about £600 missed payments and bailiff threats.

Took months to sort out.
