I reckon some of these award nights must be fixed, Thali Ho was open for like a month before they were the best suburban casual dining curry house in Greater London or some such bullshit.

I would question the validity/authority of the awards.

Like the Drum and Bass awards et al

That's quite a specific award tbf. National Asian Awards sounds a bit more legit to me. At the least it must at least be quite good for them to have any credibility surely? Everest Spice in Epsom was named as the best Curry house in the south in The Telegraph and it is my go to place and always packed.

Sausage dinner innit.

@Rudgie, Wok Express in Garston Village by ours. Thank me later

I thought you were a Smithdown chap? I used to live by the little Asda in Garston.

I drive to this place. Its nearly an hours drive from mine. Every other weekend I drive the fambo up there and then go and sit on the front eating it in the car. Best f&c bar none.

Nah, I bevvy on Smithdown but live by Garston Park.

Next time I'm up there in the summer, I'll try that place in the link. Even if it is in prime tory territory.

You're the most Tory person I know William! A weekend away and Kent and it's venison steaks for tea.

Well I was trying to be lazy but here's what Google has to offer

"It's a British colloquial term for the gherkin. Originally it was London slang corruption of the word "Olive" but when Eastern European immigrants arrived in the late 19th Century they brought a liking for pickled cucumbers which, like olives, were sold from wooden barrels and also began to be referred to as a wallies (mostly in the east-end of London)."

Fuck off liquor is vastly different seeing how it's made from parsley

Liquor is a purpose made flavourfull sauce.

Pea Wet is literally water scum by-product of some pea's being cooked.

Liquor? Never heard of it in the pie & chips context. Gravy or fuck off

Liquor is nice, but gravy is superior.

My local Fish and Chip shop is run by Portuguese and is fucking exceptional, they serve better fish than most of the places I've been to on the coast, no idea if they are Jews as well -might ask them one day!

I'm not middle class enough to have a Pie & Mash shop near me. What are you thinking mixing it in here with pea-water and scraps?

Pie and mash shops are so far away from being middle class that your brain may explode with his insight.

I have learned that northerners will eat the scraps of batter that should be in the bin, washed down with a cool glass of pea juice.

True indeed. But yeah, saying that because it's made from parsley makes liqour better than something made from peas defies logic to me.

Not really 'made from' peas though. It's more like tinned pea discharge - it's waste as far as I'm concerned. Like someone spreading their toast with used coffee grounds or something.

I have just googled Liquor though and that is actually the parsleyed eel juice apparently. I WILL DRINK PEA ANY DAY compared to that

Whilst you are of course 100% correct Geordie, there do seem to be a fair few new pie and mash shops being opened up in hipster parts of London
