The chippy

What's your order?
1) steak and kidney pudding, chips and gravy
2) chips and curry sauce
3) scampi and chips

Obviously do my own salt and vinegar. Not arsed about potatoes usually but I've had a craving for the chippy this winter #honk

The best chippy I've ever been to is in Ullapool. The haddock was so big they had to give me two trays.

Bit of a long way though if you're peckish.

Haddock or hake, chips, mushy peas and pickled onion.

Salt vinegar and tartare sauce applied at home with a heavily lurpacked white slice.

I once got a guy to batter me a pickled egg for what I thought would be a laugh. Give it a dash of salt and it's next level nang,

Special fish supper (usually breadcrumbs). Side order of steak pie / battered haggis  depending on mood. Enough vinegar to drown a horse.

Battered pickled egg sounds serious. Top plan.

...is this what you want???

When I was a kid, the chippy was a weekly event. Now I probably visit a chippy about 5 times a year. Got to be done when you're visiting the coast init

I'm a straight up battered cod/haddock chips and curry sauce guy. Might throw in a pickled egg for good measure.
I imagine everything you eat in a chip shop is rotting your insides though.

All about a potato scallop buttie drenched in vinegar, bit of salt and ketchup along with a bag of chips again soaked in vinegar and plenty of scraps.

I live on the south coast and no fish and chip shops do it like they do in West Yorkshire. I reckon the best one around here is still not as good as the worst one in West Yorkshire. Also you ask for scraps and they look at you funny around here, what is up with them!

A northerner friend of mine once asked for either gravy or curry sauce in a chippy in Surbiton and they looked at her like she asked them to shit on her face.  They said "you can have a wedge of lemon if you like".  Made me laugh

When I visit the UK I often crave good fish and chips with mushy paze (sic) and tartar sauce (or a tray of chips covered in curry sauce).  But it often falls behind a roast dinner and balti in the list of UK foods that I crave.  Can only binge eat so much junk in one weekend.

p.s. battered sausage always seems like a good idea but usually makes me feel sick afterwards.  I struggle with fried foods as they tend to give me indigestion/sore stomach feeling afterwards.

I get mad cravings for fish & chips occasionally but when I finally get cod & chips from the local chip shop (which is quite highly regarded) it's always a let down for some reason. I just think maybe cod isn't flavourful enough for me. Probably much better near the sea.

Cod is such a boring fish man.  It needs help flavour wise.  If it is gently cooked with some chorizo and tomatoes then it's lovely, but on its own it is so flavourless and boring.  Smoked eel on the other hand is 10/10 nang

Clarks pie (composed of 90% gristle, I had a Saturday job on the production line), battered snausage, chips and curry sauce if I'm round the corner.

Cod and Chips with Scampi if at Farrows or Salt And Malt that do decent fish.

Never seen one in a chippy but it’s like a steak and kidney pie filling inside a steamed suet pudding, they are fucking nang.

Large haddock, chips, mushy peas and either scampi or battered jumbo sausage longside if I’m feeling frisky.

Always salt and vinegar myself.
