"take your own" means take 20-30p here

I've said it before down south and the cheeky cunts have taken the price of a drink for themselves. Never again

Surely that's what 'take your own' would mean though?!

Normally give them a srink here and there for the bar staff, couple of quid extra to the barbers or a taxi.

I've no idea what this "take your own" talk is, but fucking lol at tipping 20-30p. That's pretty much an insult, not a tip.

Contactless so no.

If it's over 30 in a restaurant and the machine asks for gratuity, no to that also. But I'll leave 3 or 4 quid in coins if they being drinks quickly. £1 coin if they didn't.

TBH 20p aint bad if you're just pulling pints and enough people do it.

Unless you're in a really busy pub and the bar staff are treating you more favourably than others, I wouldn't ever tip someone for pulling a pint.

Hadaway and shite man. Those in me local deserve a pint or a drink of their choice every so often. They make the place welcoming and are not earning much per hour so whats a drink for them?

Why tip a taxi driver, unless he has gone out his way to help you. Fuck all this tipping bullshit....I always tip in a restaurant, unless the service was dire.

I normally end up tipping taxi drivers because I'm usually drunk or mashup lol. Just let them keep whatever the change is as I stumble out the back.

'Tip someone for pulling a pint' that sentence alone is fuckin hilarious......Out here, you can order a tower of beer and they will put it on your table, pour it for you, constantly top it up, and add a bit of ice ( trust me you need it) and I always chuck a couple of dollars tip in at the end , but they have earned it.

I used to hate it at a rave when you'd order two double spirits and it would be like £18 , you give them a 20 and they'd chuck the £2 on a tray expecting you to leave it there. FUCK OFF

DA FUQ?

Even for the strange poverty place which is the North i'm sure this isn't actually true lol. Anything less than a quid is a total insult, i never tip less than 2 quid for anything.

Yes, their wages are shit, but so are many other jobs where you wouldn't think of tipping. I'm sure their bosses could pay them a lot higher.

Yanks and the British are obsessed with tipping, I have been myself in my younger days, i just personally think it should be done if the service is good, or someone has generally worked hard or helped you.

Never heard anyone utter the exact phrase "take your own" in my life.
"Get one for yourself" maybe, in which case I'd fully expect the price of a drink to be taken.

Northerners being appalled by London / southern prices will never stop being amusing. I remember my mums other half (From Sunderland) when he first paid over £3 for a pint years ago. He was absolutely fucking mortified

I paid £19 for a haircut the other day, the lady was clearly surprised I didn't tip after. She can fack off, I was jobless and my normal barbers charge a tenner so she's already getting a massive tip.

If we're following the "well bar staff don't earn much" logic, then they should be giving me a tip on all those occasions when I've paid £4.20 for a pint while being an unemployed.

Nah, then you are  kinda reinforcing  the notion its OK to give a shit wage to service workers. I'm not mad keen on topping up wages because an employer doesn't want to pay properly.

If you get utterly shit service do you still tip? Fuck that.

Did you pay on card?  Surely if you're paying cash you just let em keep the quid?  Not that I'm saying what you should do with your money lol, I get your point in general, it's pretty expensive compared to a lot of places, but I swear barbers etc often charge £9, £14, £19 etc in the hope that people will just let them keep the extra £1.

I always tip a few quid at my barber. He does a mean cut and also fits me in / moves other people about to get me in when he's busy. He's a nice guy as well - been cutting my hair since he was working at some other shop and now owns his own place.

His wife was on the verge of going into full-on labour and he still popped into the shop to cut my hair for my wedding day ffs.
