In busy bars yeah but less now I rarely use cash these days. Hate it when they prompt for tips on the card machine though. Vexes me as I don't believe it is shared out by a long shot

Always tip the bar staff in my local if they're decent.

Gets you served quicker too.

What do they take if you say "take your own."?

They just take a quid, but only tip the sound ones.

I wanted a coffee after the last home game and some thick tart serving said she was too busy.

🙄

When buying drinks? No way. I didn't even know that was a thing.

Will only tip at when I'm eating out and the service is very good.

Quality of life is much better up here.

That wasn't a forum fault. I just felt really strongly about it, even if the original post was ironic.

I work in the public sector so I ain't exactly balling, but anyone who works in an industry who gives me good service gets tipped. My barber, taxi's and especially in places like bars or restaurants where it's likely they earn minimum wage.

Even just a couple of quid reinforces that people should give good service and having worked in a bar for a couple of years I know it all adds up.

Don't normally but will buy them one or stick one in the tap if they're drinking themselves.

Same, never done nor witnessed it. I've found bribing with sniff and other treasures can be effective if you want a lock in though. Just got to spot the fiends.

I miss the UK pub culture. I want to go to a pub and not have table service and tipping.

Definitely.  Although I am doubtful whether tips through the card machine ever actually make their way to the staff.

I'll generally always tip decent service, it's worth it considering how hard some people work for very little pay.

"take your own" means take 20-30p here

I've said it before down south and the cheeky cunts have taken the price of a drink for themselves. Never again
