MCing in the "good old days" was a patchy affair to say the least!

True dat. Mad P and Conrad being a couple of exceptions

During that period as well; how he wasn't shot by each Burger Bar member in turn, is one of life's mysteries...

Mad P seems to be a combination of Pookie and Nigel Farage these days, pretty distressing

He was brilliant in his day though, as time has gone by Top Buzz have probably become my favourites. Their selection was on another level!

There was a guy called Long John who seemed to do Bassmans style before him, check out Phantasy at Dreamscape IV.

He is Bassmans older bro, doesn't really spit anymore but he never really did, just quotables.

$pyda is still spitting and promoting too.

D&B needs more MC's like Long John.

After listening to the lastet Sun & Bass sets, all these 'newer' MC's are just more polished Magika types. One MC on the Bryan Gee set starts singing about wanting to "kiss himself"

I just assumed it was because I'm getting old, but MCs these days don't hype me up like they used to. Bassman being the obvious exception

I don't think it's age. I've just been listening to on old eksman set from 98 and he is pure fire on it but does nothing for me these days. Azza is the only mc of recent times that is killing it.

Not really a term I'd use either way but I've heard people say amen.

But all your ladies are men.

Add Ribbz and Joe Peng to that list and that's pretty much it for me.

That's still probably more than than modern day MC's who I mostly find indistinguishable from each other...

Saying that I never have been much of an MC man though.

That's Mc Darrison. He ruined the whole set with his randomness, chatting over the vocal tracks and the other mc ( Trac )

That's a shame. He was one of the original "Steppaz Convention" crew from my neck of the woods. I remember him being a nice guy and not a bad MC when he's on form.

Last time I saw him it was for a reunion night in Brighton and he was good, albeit a bit surreal. Everyone was pretty relaxed. I seem to remember him over "Trouble" spitting a rhyme that included the line "this one's bigger than Jordan's breasts", which dates it a bit now eh.

I think Pinguville had a copy of the set that he posted online, the link is dead now.

is there an MC that this hasn't been said about at some point in the last 20 years? Swear it's been directed about pretty much everyone at some point.
