True, but spastics like MF182 also need all the help they can get.

No, I just hate downloading sets I've not heard before. I'd rather just stream them off SoundCloud which also gives me the ability to fast forward throught the shit parts of a set.

I've now got that crappy serum set on my hard drive. It's in my iTunes and probably in my cloud storage forever.

As an aside, the Marky set is good but turns really weird and gay towards the end. Lowqui can get really annoying too.

What is the actual festival like then lads? my understanding is its not a festival like say Outlook where its all on the site, isnt s&b just a load of different club nights in the same week?

Who is the MC on the Patife set? Sounds a bit like Fats but don't think it is.
Mic is too loud and he's annoying. Especially those monkey noises

Cleveland Watkiss. Been about since Bluenote days. The guy's really a jazz vocalist which sometimes can really nice up the dance and then others...

@Switch just look at the line up from this year. That doesn't even tell you half the story of how good the place is.

Yeah nothing like outlook.

Held in a small town that gets taken over by the festival goers for the week. There are two nice clubs that hold the evening events throughout the week, then during the day time there are a few beach parties and events at selected bars. Plenty of opportunity to chill and explore venues that aren't specifically hosting the event too.

There's a couple of different locations, but it's all based in a little village.  It's absolutely great and I would highly recommend going along to check it out... that's a recommendation based on having been 11 times in a row and I'm a grumpy fucker about things like festivals normally.

Can someone remind me of the tune in between Spread Love & Celestial Navigation in the Frost/Bailey set at around the 15-16min mark? Mind's gone blank...again.

Assuming youve been to Outlook, cost wise is it quite similar? Im talking about tickets flights accom and drinks prices when youre there etc. Ive always wanted to go to S&B and im 31 next year so i think its about fucking time i did it! The only thing thats always stopped me is I go Outlook every year as the crew i usually go with like a bit more than just D&B. Which is fair enough. Is it generally a good atmosphere etc at the s&b events?

SNB is more expensive than Outlook. For the club nights it's 10 euros a strong cocktail, and 5 euros a water. But daily costs are fine with supermarket trips. Flights usually £200 booked early from London. Tickets €190, accommodation about £120 for the week in a villa with 4-5 people

Outlook is more diverse musically and to be honest full of too many English people. Young idiots too. I had fun at outlook but SNB is more of a dnb paradise. No camping or any of that bollocks. Smaller and people from all over the world come to it. You end up meeting lots of people and bumping into them daily. Can mingle with the DJs who normally stay there for the week as opposed to just flying in. One of the best atmospheres you can get imo

Some official videos by SNB should give you a flavour of what to expect

It does sound all rather lovely to be fair. Music-wise, the lineups are always solid but im concerned it might be all to a bit minimal in general? Are there plenty of hard d&b sets aswell as the more liquid driven? I do love a banging dancefloor set. And what are the clubs like capacity wise? Im assuming its a small festival? Are the soundsystems good enough too? Thats one of the main reasons we hit Outlook every year, the systems are like nothing else around.

Re: Sun and Bass 2017 2017/09/22 11:47:07 (permalink)
It fucking goes off at night!!! The main venue has an outdoor stage and and indoor stage with the indoor being the loudest but the outdoor is still spot on too. The other club Ripping (which is rarely used these days) was almost like Valve

It's certainly not the anthem bashing dnb kind or Andy C / Friction line ups. It's very diverse dnb wise and there are hip hop/garage sets thrown in on some beach days. Capacity wise I think there's only about 2000 people that go...I might be wrong though but it is small. The venues are never roadblocked, adequately filled to move around and dance. It's the right balance.

Nah, I haven't been to Outlook, never been able to do both! What Dimdum said above and then to answer your questions:

1. Plenty of varied music, lots of liquid stuff, but also plenty of harder/darker stuff as well- there really is something for everyone in that respect.
2. It's a small festival, must be roughly 1000 people, I reckon.  Main club must be about the same- it's generally pretty busy on the first night but never as bad after that- I assume because some people don't know when to stop and don't make it out to the second night and so forth
3. System in the indoor bit of Ambra night is banging, IMO, the outside stage not as much, but if you stand in the right place it still sounds good, I think. Has been improved year on year as well since they started having outdoors as the main arena.  I doubt the system's will compare with Outlook's in all honesty, but they're good enough.  The system on the beach this year was pretty ridiculous as well, huge upgrade- I got there the first beach afternoon and wished I'd brought my earplugs along.

The beach stage looked amazing, lounging around all day in the sun with some beats and a beer = Heaven.

Been saying it every year, but next year.. I'm going!

Seriously tempted to book next year but I only have 1 solid guy that'll commit and enjoy a week of solid d&b. Are there any reasonable hotels in the area or is it all villas?

It really is SO GOOD.

I went with a few people who weren't overly fussed by the music, but enjoyed every night. Took some convincing initially, but it was well worth it.
