Seeing it on Wednesday.

This morning on the way to work I spotted 2 red balloons and 3 kids in yellow rain coats.

Decent movie but anyone that thinks it's even remotely scary is a flat out homo.

VR horror is awful, I can't take it at all.  Dashed my Gear VR along with brand new phone on the floor the first time I tried some horror game lol

getting sniffed up and playing VR horror is probably a pretty decent suicide method

I'd probably be better if I wasn't stoned.  Blazing and VR is a very fine line between great and nausea/paranoia.

Saw it last night. Thought it was mostly shit.

Not really any different to the usual Insidious/Conjuring Hollywood crap. Is this what all horror films are going to be like from now on? LOUD NOISES.

I watched it last night. I was slightly disappointed. The special effects of Pennywise were decent, but the story line at times was dull. The original was hardly really scary as an adult, but at least it was eerier.

I hope 'Leather Face' will be a lot better.

Bill Skarsgard only really got two or three scenes where he was allowed to perform his role. The rest of it was FX & CGI. Bit of a shame really as the storm drain scene and the bit where he had Bill at the end were really well acted. Apparently the child actors were kept away from Bill for the most part but when they did start shooting together, the kids were genuinely scared of his performance.

Have you even seen it yet?

The few times Skarsgard actually gets to speak are by far the best bits.

That fucking zombie junky thing might've been scary if they didn't put that ridiculous sound effect over it. It sounded like the fucking cookie monster.

No they're not. Half the time he spoke it reminded me of the dog from the clearscore advert.

Fair enough. I just thought the storm drain scene was the closest it got to being scary.

There was one stupidly obvious jumpy part, and then the kid in the basement going nuts and him running was pretty jumpy but like I said.... Nah, it really ain't' scary. At all.

Never read the book in fairness.
Ive only read a handful of Stephen King books and my favourites were his short story books - Night Shift , Skeleton Crew.

I thought it was a very good adaptation. A few jumps but fairly well signposted... but you have to remember that the kids story is supposed to be more like a Stand By Me / Goonies / Spielberg adventure story than a horror. In that sense, it did a great job. You can also see how much Stranger Things nicked from it. Thought the kids were great and Skargaard brought something different to Pennywise. Looking forward to part two now... wonder who they'll cast?

P.s. Glad they decided to ditch the gang bang scene from the book

Lol that's the bit I was looking forward to.

Also Henry and that weird kid wanking each other off at the dump.

Lol, forgot about that wanking scene. So odd!

He's an amazing writer though - I can't believe that's even up for discussion. IT is one of my favourites. Misery and The Stand too. Plus the whole Dark Tower (but it does unravel a bit by the end)

His fairly recent short story collection Full Dark, No Stars is excellent

Try The Long Walk too. Brilliant book that he wrote when he was only 18

This was a decent series a few years ago... he picks up most of King's essential works

Thought it was alright, but more comedic than scary. He's just trolling them hard throughout lol. The standard of horror films is a bit shit now eh?

Horrors haven't been particular brilliant for a long time.

As above tho, IT's not as all out horror and that point has been missed. The film review on BBC got it, a few critics didn't tho.

Good recent horrors anyone? Over the last few years I've enjoyed It Follows, The Babadook and the two Conjuring films. Much else worth checking?
