The original has dated so badly it's almost unwatchable.

I thought this thread was going to be a comparison of Information Technology from 1990 / 2017. I'm a bit disappointed really.

I might see this in the cinema. Never watched the original, but loved the book.

Loved the original as a kid. I hope they've sorted out the hilariously shitty ending in the remake tho.

It's a film of two halves. Great, and shite.

The movie is only the first half so no worries about that... yet.

Yeah I was thinking it would tell the rollercoaster story of Windows 3.0 -> Windows 10. Massively disappoint.

keen to check this out. the book's brilliant... until the last 50 pages or so (like almost all King's stuff)

this new pennywise looks perfect

bit weird to split it up into one kids film and then one adults film though imo

the 1990 TV movie version was split into 2 parts like that.

Should Pennywise look like a demon clown as a default though? Isn't he supposed to be enticingly friendly at first? The book certainly suggests he is.

As far as terrifying clowns go it does look good though.

I'd have much preferred to see Will Poulter in the role though. Shame he was dropped.

the stories were more interwoven weren't they? can't remember, it's been ages

as with most adaptations these days, i would've much rather they gone the limited-run tv series route with IT... such a huge story, where derry is essentially a character, that i think you need all those little vignettes showing the history of the town over the years (like how American Gods opened with a different 'coming to america' story every episode). i doubt even four hours of film will be able to capture that properly

re: pennywise's look... they had to go a different direction from tim curry. i'm glad they've done it like this, and bill skarsgard should be perfect imo

hope the monster SFX are decent

i'm also assuming they've ditched that scene at the end with all the kids 'together'? so weird. i have no idea how much coke stephen king must've been doing to think that was a good idea

I will be going to watch it on Sunday. The trailer looked decent. Love the original, but, yes the ending was fuckin awful.

Been so long since I watched the original, very much looking forward to this.

Some movies should only be watched at an XPlus. This is definitely one of them.

Enjoyed that a lot. Thought it captured the vibe of the book really well and they didn't leave too much out.
Didn't realise it was two parts but makes sense given how hench the book is. Looking forward to the second one
