Ok I'll bite... what's so funny... I'll do u the courtesy of assuming that you're not suggesting that the west deserves sharia law for all its faults... incudently there are some historians actually believe on balance the west has been a force for good

There's a difference between being critical towards a religion (or religion in general) and blaming terrorist attacks on the religion itself and thus making the millions of innocent Muslims take the fall for it.

Why are you so sure Islam is not to blame? Please don't quote an  old testament passage at me or state that English Empire was evil... Basically do you have anything to back this up?

No one is blaming the millions of innocent muslims... can we drop this line of argument now please

I consider the 1.6 million Muslims to be hostage to and victims of a hugely oppressive faith.

In Islamic societies, criticism of the religion is banned. Usually at pain of death.

Leaving the religion is banned, too. At the sharp of a sword.

So oppressive

Except that's not true, is it?

that's no man's decision to make

See the hundreds of thousands of women protesting in Tehran in 1979 at the imposition of the hijab by an all male Islamic Revolution that is in place to this day.

Because it is a choice in the West, does not mean it is a choice everywhere.

Saying 'The West has faults' is a hilarious understatement/hand waving. Regardless of where we are today, most of these fucking nutjobs are a direct result of the West's interference in the region. Not to mention arming and training them.

Anyone can claim an attack afterwards. The fact that a letter with Islamist demands was found at the scene of the crime is far more compelling.

How about plans for one? About a month ago
https://www.theguardian.c...rist-group-four-jailed

Otherwise
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-wing_terrorism

Both the 2009–10 Malmö shootings and the Trollhättan school attack were conducted by right-wing terrorists along with a refugee centre bombing in 2017.

Then there's ol' Anders
On July 22, 2011, Norwegian right-wing extremist with Nazi[54][55] and fascist[56] sympathies, Anders Behring Breivik, carried out the 2011 Norway attacks, the largest mass killing of people in Norway by a single person during peacetime, excluding use of bombs. First he bombed several government buildings in Oslo, killing eight people and injuring more than 30. After the bombings, he went to Utøya island in a fake police uniform and began firing on people attending a political youth camp for the Worker's Youth League (AUF), a left-wing political party, killing 68 and injuring more than 60.

Well compared to most countries the west is a shining example with a chequered history but which country doesn't... what about the ottoman empire? What about turkeys involvement in the middle East... yes the west has faults but its the very reason you have the freedoms that allow you to make these lazy self congratulatory comments labelling the west as the cause of radical Islam.... It's more complex than that and our freedoms are at stake here

Our freedom to sell arms to whoever we like, bomb whoever we like, expect no repercussions and still claim the moral high ground you mean?

Yeah I agree that freedom is at risk here.

Considering Turkeys involvement in the Middle East, why are we still helping them get arms to the extremists? Is it because we're aggressive islamists?

Agreed our foreign policy is abysmal and displays a massive lack of understanding of these issues... however we shouldn't use that to excuse the rise of radical islam though, can we agree on that?

Is that the one that writing experts reckon were written by a native German speaker trying to emulate a non-native?

Well I don't deny there is some connection although I would place the blame squarely at the feet of the literal interpretation of Islam... after all that's what the militant Islamists cite as their primary motivation

There comes a time where people have to take responsibility for their actions and we have to stop finding excuses and blaming ourselves... The world isn't all about us and, believe it or not, we're actually not that bad compared to a lot regimes... If people live by a fascist ideology we should call it out for what it is and certianly not feel hindered by guilt over our previous mistakes / crimes
