Dishoom black daal is the bollocks, don't think I've ever eaten a side dish as nice as that...need the recipe

Saag paneer is always pretty standard

the baltis round my way are going nuts with what they call their dishes....chicken tikka masala chilli garlic balti, basically everything in one dish

A quality dish near me is a chicken rezalla, think its Bangladeshi, quite hot but tangy

This gear is pretty good out of Waitrose -

Fry spices for a bit, add your main bit and a bit of scotch bonnet in my case - onions/vegan quorn pieces for me, then fry in the 'base sauce', then the main sauce - all the above takes less time than to boil a single portion of Tesco Easy Cook Basmati with a quarter teaspoon of tumeric and a bit of salt...

The sauce is the best I've had from (3) packets by miles...

Some places don't do proper paneer though, I'm going way back now - proper rank, like cheddar that melts, the whole point is that it doesn't.

Love curry, fave food by a mile. However, I've recently come to the conclusion that the first beer and poppadoms are the highlight which is a bit disappointing.
Whatever about prices down south being dear, the prices in Dublin are extortionate but unfortunately it's expensive to dine out in any establishment here. Having said that, there is a place near my work that does a big Indian lunch of rice, main and veg side for €8, lovely. Kinda get my fill there.
Top tip, don't bother with the desserts.

Best breakfast I ever had was in Goa- vegetable sabji with puri bread. Small portion, in a cheap metal bowl.

I still wake up craving it 21 years later

Lol at the heathen not rating a lamb curry or paneer, hang tight the pint of Carling, egg & chips Dons.

I switch up my order all the time but fail safe choices;

King Prawn Biriyani
Saag Paneer/Aloo/Chana
Garlic Lamb
Fish Curry/Tandoori Fish
Keema Naan or Stuffed Paratha
EGG and Kofte curry
Daal Makhani/Brinjal etc
Chicken curries are pretty bait in general but a good chicken dhansak/palak chicken are the exceptions

Eating in i'd send for the mixed grill too but they don't travel well

Starters king prawn butterfly and onion bhajji's

I tried Veganism and failed. I've compromised by trying to have a couple of vegan days, couple of veggy days and a couple of meat days per week.
Currys are one of life's pleasures when you're trying to avoid meat.

I was in Birmingham recently and went to http://www.jamesdahl.uk/ for a curry. Asked them if anything was suitable for a vegan and he didn't really know what it was. Had to explain it's no meat, dairy or animal products. I took a gamble on some veggie dishes but I couldn't be arsed doing that in every restaurant I visit.
Curry was very nice there, though.

Really depends on how good the place is. Lamb is much nicer when cooked well but mediocre chicken > mediocre lamb and sometimes I just don't fancy the gamble.

Saag paneer is the food of God's you horrific bastards.

Overcooked saag is another thing tho. Tastes like what I imagine is a watery, iron door key. Undercooked isn't any better.

And it defeats the object if your food is swimming in oil. You don't spoon it out when it arrives, you ask beforehand to reduce levels.
