Loved playing Hero quest on Sundays round my Dad's. He'd write quests and print out scrolls on the Amiga.

The Mrs goes to a Board game club.... I've been a few times.

They normally play Settlers of Catan, its a bit much for me tbh... also I've played this one there which is decent:

Its a co-op game so i don't get battered by them all as normal.

A game of Connect 4 or Shopping List with the 4 year old is also good. Still lose though.

Othello is quite real, my sister used to murder me when I was a yout.

Learning chess with the missus, divorce soon come.

Puerto Rico (similar to Catan) is quality.  The X-Com board game is pretty sick too.

Monopoly is probably the most irritating game ever made.

Chess. I went to a pretty geeky middle school, and was a top chess player, won the school tournament 3 times and kept the trophy a la Brazil with the World Cup, smashed all the teachers, and played in a team on Tuesday evenings. To my credit I was also in the football, cross country and swimming teams, so I wasn't a complete dork.

If you have a mathematical brain it's a great advantage. Or maybe vice versa, in that chess helps that part of your brain develop.

Shit at it now in comparison. I'd probably still beat most, but lack of practice and years of abuse means the mistakes creep in.

Chess is the one, but I have to set the clock to 48 hours allowed per move I can't play fast games. If anyone wants a game, go get Lichess app, signup, hit me up via PM.

I actually emailed the local chess bods a few weeks ago, to see if I could sign up for one of the local tournaments, just a one-dayer, and see how far I had fallen from my glory days.

Too much hassle to play competitively, need to join the English Chess Federation and there's only one tournament a year within 30 miles of here. All I wanted to do was play 6 matches and try not to get thraped in all of them.

Fuck it, I'll stick to fell racing.
