Random capitalisation and "their" instead of "there", from the president of the USA.

CIA chief saying "We are going to go out there and do our damnedest to steal secrets on behalf of the American people" almost made me spit tea everywhere when I heard it.

Watching the American media from a distance really is quite amusing.

The Dow Jones has been going from strength to strength under Trump, something they have steadfastly refused to acknowledge (probably because he tweets about it every 10 minutes) or have credited Obama.

One bad day and they are all going insane “OMG TRUMP HAS CRASHED THE STOCK MARKET” despite the fact that it is still miles up from when he took over.

TBF if Trump is going to try and take all the credit for the stock market, which he does almost daily despite it being bullshit, he can't complain when it crashes and he gets hung out to dry. You live by the sword etc

I agree, but by the same token the likes of CNN who haven't given him any credit for the stock market rising (despite some of it being due to his regulation cutting and tax cuts) can't suddenly turn on him and blame him for one day's crash out of countless good days in the last year.

He's publicly denounced them as #FAKENEWS and discredits their integrity on a daily basis - they're never going to do a positive piece about him again. Neither him nor you should be surprised.

Just quite amusing to watch the whole spectacle from afar. Lots of journalists who should know better were hawking around a blatantly photoshopped tweet as further evidence of his hypocrisy.

My mum used to tell me "'I want' doesn't get" when me or my brother would be demanding and petulant.

I think I'm gonna have to modify my parenthood method as current reality isn't supporting that premise.

Mad that some right wing Yanks were trying to give Trump credit for this sudden rapproachement rather than see it for the obvious “divide and conquer”, isolate Washington tactic that it was.

They truly seem to have some sort of mass mental illness when it comes to guns. BBC saying it’s the 18th school shooting this year. This year! It’s only halfway through February.

This won’t change anything of course, if they didn’t snap out of it after that freak murdered a bunch of little 6 year olds at Sandy Hook then they never will.

No, they won’t. And even if they did, it wouldn’t make any difference. The cat is long since out of the bag on guns.

The reason they have guns in their culture was to defend themselves from being re-invaded by us. We don’t understand it and luckily we don’t need to in this country as they aren’t a huge problem.

I know the history, people citing it as reason to still have widespread easy access to guns in 2018 are talking utter shit tbh. If there was the political will they could ban guns and make it work. It’s not an insurmountable problem by any means.

They don’t even need to ban them outright to make a big difference and save lives. If this cunt today had only been able to get a handgun instead of an assault rifle with multiple large magazines there would be far less dead kids. But then any attempt to bring in sensible gun control is just shut down, as happened just last year. I can’t see how any sane person could justify voting against it, beyond admitting to being cowed by the money and influence of the NRA.

Amnesty worked in this country because of the relatively meagre proliferation of firearms.

I’m sure there are more civilian semi automatics at large in the US than are possessed by our entire military.

I’d agree with you in a heartbeat but it’s never going to change imo. And even if it did, it would take many generations to have an effect.

Sorry SW14 but your cat out of the bag argument doesn't wash. You have to start somewhere. Maybe it'll take 10 years, maybe 25, all we know is if they do nothing, the mass shootings will definitely continue.

Banning guns would be like banning sausages in Germany. Americans just aren't interested. You're wasting your time even having the discussion when these events happen.

it's infuriating that they don't see the link between not allowing gun control to be debated, and implicitly saying that they're OK with kids getting shot in school. What a fucking moronic culture.
