The US still has a pull for a lot of people.

If they offered 10,000 right to remain visas to the people of Norway, I don’t think they’d last long.

Florida or a Fjord? San Fransisco or Oslo?

It’s reasonably hard for Europeans to migrate to the US unless it’s work or marriage related.

Incredible

What’s incredible? That migration from some of the most dangerous places on earth isn’t no strings attached?

It isn’t incredible at all. It’s fucking obvious.

You're being more deluded that usual.

The country discovered oil in the late 1960s, and, unlike other resource-rich countries that have succumbed to mismanagement and corruption in the face of sudden wealth, invested heavily in its people and its economy to become one of the world’s wealthiest places. Its per capita gross domestic product went from $1,441.80 in 1960 to $70,911.8 now, according to World Bank data. (The U.S. figure is $57,638.20.) Norway has higher life expectancy at birth than the U.S., lower rates of infant mortality, low unemployment, and access to the European Union’s labor market (though it’s not an EU member).
Additionally, Norway is the world’s happiest country (the U.S. ranks 14), the place with the most political freedom (the U.S. ranks 45), most press freedom (the U.S. ranks 43rd), and most prosperity (the U.S. ranks 18). Simply put, there’s little economic incentive for Norwegians to immigrate to the U.S.

I wasn't necessarily stating economic factors. The US still has a huge pull factor and allure due to soft power and things like the influence of film and television.

I know where I would rather be if I was offered the Arctic Circle or the coast of Florida, the bright lights of New York City or the relatively sedate Oslo.

You'd have no problem getting 10,000 Norwegians out there and very few problems once they arrived.

Says you based on zero evidence with plenty of comments from Norwegians to the contrary.

There's over 5 million people in Norway, you don't think 10,000 people would want a right to remain visa to live in the US?

Righto.

Yes, we know your opinion Trumps evidence.

More Americans move to Norway than vice versa.

Yeah, we are talking in the hundreds on both sides because it is very difficult to move in either direction.

Norway might have a great sovereign wealth fund but it also barely has any daylight during the winter months.

The Hart-Celler Act sounded the death knell for a majority white America. IMO Trump (like many other white americans) would love to repeal it.. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2015/10/immigration-act-1965/408409/

Still a pretty small time place to be of 5 million people.

Give me Miami, NYC or LA over Oslo or fucking Tromso any day of the week.

I like the way he thinks he can just bat everything off with outlandish hyperbole. Almost like creating enough controversy drowns the last one out, a war of attrition against outrage.

After "grab 'em right by the pussy" he gives it "nobody respects women more than I do, folks - believe me!"

For any other President, paying off a porn star would be wall to wall news. As it stands, it barely even registers on the Richter scale between the shitholes, nuclear alerts flying around Hawaii, the Mueller probe etc.

Trump used the term "shithouses" rather than "shitholes" apparently

Donald Trump did not use the term “s***hole” to describe developing countries during a meeting on immigration, instead using the word “s***house”, it has been claimed.

He said himself during the election that he could shoot someone in middle of 5th avenue and not lose his voters. And he kind of was right.

The worse thing about Trump is the merger of celebrity entertainment and politics.

It has set a new low bar for future politics.

I already disliked the dynasty politics of American politics where you had the obsession with another Clinton, Bush or Obama running but combined with the cult of celebrity it's even worse.

And was assisted by Murdoch and Ailes, especially during in the late 90's/early 00's with the launch of Fox News.
They made a conscious decision to turn factual, dry (boring) news into the 24 hour cycle glam-news business with presenting some of the facts but hammering hard with emotion and opinion to muddy the waters and drive the arguments - Thank god he couldn't get his hands on the whole of Sky.
