Two new ones from me. First is footwork jungle, the second is an r&b/autonomic/halftime mongrel.

Did a remix of a song which is played over the opening credits of a program called Unforgotten.

It was called jungle in those days, not drum and bass. That came later

This is nice. Would like a few more sweeps/back fx to fill it out a little more but good work.

Thanks man ☺ Appreciate the feedback and kind words. I thought the same but decided to keep it sparse. And also I got sick of that fucking piano loop so had to stop!

Mood/vibe is nice, but is a little polite sonically. Arrangement is a bit of a myth, though — this needs a few more elements to add some detail and progress to the tune, 'cos that piano loop is in for WAY too long throughout the tune (I think there are only 16 bars of the whole thing that don't feature that loop). A few exceptions exist, but by and large no one element of the tune (besides the drums) should play such a consistent part in a track IMO.

More percussion, more sub... just MORE. Nice enough idea but is crying out for development.

What with Chris Brown's recent bootlegging I thought I would post this one. I made this about 6 odd years ago for a competition we ran on here. Ah those were the days!

Hey chaps... I gave these older tunes a polish recently, thought I'd share with y'all, hope you like

https://hearthis.at/binar-ps/kt-this-sound-is-for-the-underground-binar-remix-120818/

Original '92 anthem - I started this for a remix comp on DNBA a few years back, just given it a polish. Not been sanctioned by the original artists at all so strictly unofficial and definitely not for sale, free to all.

https://hearthis.at/binar-ps/binar-techno-union-army-120818/

Star Wars Episode 2 - the movie was a bit hit & miss but was great for sampling...

https://hearthis.at/binar-ps/binar-magnificent-desolation-120818/

All vocal samples taken from the July '69 Apollo XI mission - I just wanted to show the difference in Armstrong's reaction v Aldrins later....

Re: Production Thread (for old men) 2018/08/18 12:14:15 (permalink)
I think this is more or less done, save for a vocal, which I'd love someone to contribute but have no plan in place to make happen... (I'm not doing it, I've listened to this this FAR too many times already)

https://hearthis.at/stamina-mc/marbles2/LCI/

The backstory is that a friend sent over the guitar, a few minutes of him just playing. I was like "what even is this?" and he didn't really have an answer for me, so a few days later I just built a track around it. Well, actually this is the second attempt — the first version was more of a ballad-sounding thing, trying out the Drum plugin within Logic, which was cool, but a little unremarkable once done. Throwing in some more modern-sounding beats made a world of difference.

I keep fighting the urge to 'produce' more and add things like sound FX etc, but if I do ever get the vocal I don't think any of that stuff would be needed any more... tl;dr. :)

Can anyone recommend some synthesiser apps to play around with?

Ideally ones that produce that really old warm Detroit techno or Chicago house sound

Cheers

U-he Diva or the Arturia collection are good starting points

I really like that, very nicely put together and the guitar pleases me for reasons I can't explain.

For iPad I'd suggest looking at the Korg synths

Nice.
Synth that come in at 16, I'd prefer it a little less "clean", muffle it a bit. At present when it 1st comes in it seems a little sharp, and Marioish. Along with a few simple echoes and reverb that could sound nicer. Good vibe to it overall.

Synth when the beat drops sounds like the Aphrodite tune with "the greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist"
Good roller. The beats are a bit loose from the track somehow. They are nice beats but are just sounding a bit separate from the the rest of track

<3 love your tunes, this is sick, exactly my kind of d&b. i know its not finished but my only suggestion would be to add a high passed break or some hats or something in there after 32 bars or whatever to make a bit more rolling as a switch up? kind of sounds like you have put someting like that in after 32 but its just v quiet? snare is pretty (too?) loud also imo. always feel ike a cunt saying this stuff though as its quality as is
