More like no one would want to see them because he made the worst Star Wars film of all time. I include the Ewok movies in that. He did a huge about of damage to the Star Wars brand and lost them hundreds of millions. I will avoid his movies.

He actually did look devastated at the response to Star Wars so your shitty sarcy comment is probably more true than you realise. Wouldn't be surprised at all if his films flop now as so many people will avoid him.

Personally I think the hate for The Last Jedi was a bit disproportionate - apart from the awful casino sequence it was pretty solid imo - but I get what you’re saying. Making a Star Wars film is primarily about fan service, and clearly he didn’t get it right.

The idea that he’s suddenly a shit director or something is crazy though. Think of what a nightmare making one of these films must be... How many morons try and stick their oar in and give you ‘creative’ advice

Anyway, the point is that left to his own devices, his output is very strong - Brick and Looper especially - so I’ve got high hopes for Knives Out and I’m sure it’ll find a decent audience

Finally got around to watching "Solo' this week.

It took me 3 attempts to get through it. What an absolute pile of dog shit. Star Wars is finished.

What a strange choice, out of all the classic Star Wars characters they could have chosen. How about a Palatine, Darth Maul, Yoda, Obi Wan show etc? But if its as good as Rogue One I'll be happy.

Star Wars is in dire need of a fresh set of stories. Sack off all the Skywalker/Vader stuff, maybe bring back a distant link to it at the end of a new trilogy or something. Who gives a fuck about the backstory of some minor character from a 40 year old film, it's time to move on.

They need to write some new characters that have their own stories to tell, not just inject a set of bland kids who were created by a focus group into an existing story.

I know the counter argument is that it wouldn't be Star Wars without Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, but surely it's obvious they're just running it into the ground at this point and need to change tack somehow.

Luke Skywalker a minor character?! Or do you mean someone else.

Tbf when it comes to the mainline films the Skywalker saga will probably end with episode 9.

Personally I would have preferred Han and Luke to not be killed off until episode 9 if at all.

Not Luke Skywalker lol, I meant like the Boba Fett movie they were planning, it's just an indicator of them dredging the depths of their established characters to try and contrive some new story while still being able to sell Boba Fett action figures.

Boba Fett movie is a bit pointless but there's still some potential in the spin off movies. Yoda lived for 800 years and must have been involved in some epic clashes with Sith lords

They have played very heavily on nostalgia tbf. When episode VIII tried to throw nostalgia in the bin half the fans lost their minds.

I guess at least that Diego Luna thing is about a new character, but then it’s set in the episode IV period when it can guest star all the old favourites again.

I agree with Pat. The Star Wars canon (or at least what has at some time been considered canon) has stories covering millenia. Considering they've had 11 films, the universe seems really poorly developed within them. I suppose there's a limit to what you can do when you have to appeal to both children and fanboys. It's hard to blame Disney when the only thing Lucas ever cared about was selling plastic toys.
