You thought one of the greatest and most powerful movie characters of all time dying on a rock as a sad old man for no apparent reason was class?

You really have to switch your brain off to enjoy some of these star wars movies, the original 3 were decent. these ones are saved by the flashy lights and the cool sets and costumes imo, still worth a watch but not worth blowing your beans over.

I really did like the set to Supreme Leader Snokes area with all the Elite Praetorian Guards and the way they reacted.. one minor complaint was the guy with the weird whip thing, how does that work then? lol

Ha! Yeah for the sake of balance I'll list some of what I didn't like. Because hating is fun. All been mentioned many times before...

Flying Leia - if they'd had balls they would of left her for dead right there. The shot of her floating in space against the backdrop of Snoke's big ship was sick though. And then she woke up.

Rose - such an over nice fucking goody two shoes with all of the cheesiest lines and the hammiest acting Arrrrgh fuck off Rose.

The casino - Didn't feel like it fitted in with any of the star wars worlds or creatures of the past. Wish they'd gone somewhere more grimy full of shady weirdos.

Comedy Hux - I much preferred Hux in TFA when he wasn't the subject of loads of lame gags. In fact he was probably my favourite character in TFA.

Despite all  that I still really enjoyed it. I especially liked what they did with Luke's character

Yeah... Totally. I'm enjoying where it is going and enjoyed the unexpected directions they took with some of it.
I know you would have had Mark Hamills rotting corpse wheeled out for another 400 episodes but at some point, this thing needs to go in a new direction. Maybe he could have gone on for another episode but the torch was always going to get passed at some point. I thought it was handled very well... Anyone would think that you were watching one of your relatives dying up there or something.

He didn't die for no reason though, he gave hope to the universe again. That was literally the story.

Fails to bring back the Jedi/bring balance to the force thereby losing faith and purpose
Sulks (very much in character that)
Rebels dwindle and hope is dying
Finds purpose again via Rey
Spectacularly pars Kylo Ren from across the galaxy thus helping the remaining rebels escape and sparking hope in the galaxy again via tales of his mad jedi deeds

I've said numerous times i enjoyed it. I just can't sit by and witness the rimming you lot are giving it without pointing out it really wasn't that great. I've never seen a Star Wars movie be so disliked by so many people so they clearly did something wrong.

Again... I haven't really rimmed it. Fresh out the cinema I was slating Leia flying, rose and some of the other shit but I still really enjoyed it. The shit bits are shit but the good bits really are brilliant imo

Since seeing it, you have unleashed some one man campaign against the film and anyone saying anything positive about it.... It had some breathtaking moments and explores some interesting concepts but I haven't seen one person in here say it wasnt without its flaws

The film is 90% flaws and 10% mild nostalgic enjoyment tbpfh.

One good thing about it is that when Solo is inevitably a load of shit it will be less of a surprise. Trailer out this week apparently.

Anyone done this at the Shepherd’s Bush Westfield yet? Really good fun. Easily the best use of virtual reality I’ve experienced so far too-

The price is absolutely ridiculous for how long it lasts

I thought i read that it's just using a regular Vive, what makes it so good?

I tried that new Droid Repair VR 'game' the other day, was pretty shit but fun for 5 minutes.

yeah, it is quite pricey (what in london isn't though?) and only lasts about 20 mins, but we all enjoyed it a lot. much better than i was expecting

obviously very high production values, but it's multi-sensory, quite interactive, lots of shooting and a few cool cameos and surprises. pretty exhilarating actually. if you're a star wars fan then it'd be hard to not love it

Is there much to it that you couldn't just do at home though? I can't help but think i'd end up thinking i'd rather have bought a VR game considering i could buy one or two games for that price they are charging for 20 mins

i don't think you could get anywhere near the same experience at home, no. you interact with a fair few physical things and move around quite a big space. temperatures change, there are smells, and so on. you wear a sort of big rumble pak rucksack too, so it vibrates when you get shot, jump to lightspeed, etc. the whole thing is just way more immersive than any other VR i've done. at the end of the day it's just a cool thing to do with three friends

Dude. Phantom Menace? Clone Wars? The other one (which I've never even bothered to watch)? Many Star Wars fans (including myself) detest those 3 so much we prefer to pretend they don't exist. Hell, if they wanted to remake those prequels/Vader origin trilogy this year, I'd be happy.

Teh Last Jedi wasn't the best of the series, but it was an enjoyable film. Too many Disney animals, flying Leia, Casino World... but, the light-speed-kamikaze-silence moment, Luke brushing the dirt off his shoulder, and the ambiguity of Kylo Ren? I was entertained. The CGI trilogy had me bored-sick-bored-angry-confused-bored-indifferent, and that was before Ja Ja Binks was on the screen.

So far Rogue One has been my favourite of the new films. It was a perfect stand-alone, had the bleak, gritty feel of the OG films, and didn't have any major cheese problems IMO.

Revenge of the Sith is better than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones but it's still terrible. Shit CGI, shit dialogue, shit acting.

I like that ^ Good point that it's not really been 'special' since the prequels. And also about adults needing to get a grip.

I saw this comment under another video thinkpiece thing, made me chuckle

Luke should've turned up in his moss covered X-Wing, right after Rey hits her triple, shouting "GREAT SHOT KID, THAT WAS 1 IN A MILLION", then ejected right into the air, pausing momentarily in the Crait sun, before IGNITING HIS GREEN LASER SWORD, then BAM ! 3 point Superhero Landing, as in the background the x-wing continues on it's trajectory into the side of an AT-M6.

Then, fucking duel of the fates starts playing, and Luke ignites a second blade out of the bottom of his sword, going full maul-style double ended, he rips off his top leaving a high waisted Ben Swolo style look, being a totally ripped old man, we see he's covered in all sorts of sweet jedi style tats.

Then the First Order fucking just open up on him, and he's force dashing, flipping and fucking ping ponging all over the place, reflecting bolts straight back at them, and slicing legs off the AT-M6's, force lifting them into each other and throwing the wreckage at Kylos ship, which gets smashed out the air.

Then the whole fucking atmosphere breaks above them, and the shattered wreckage of the supremacy, just tears down towards the Crait surface heading towards them, impacting the plains, gouging whole plumes of salt into the air, and it hurtles on a collision course for Luke and the base. Luke just fucking stares it down, steel eyed and confident he raises one hand in front of him, then the other beside it, and in one sharp intense moment he FUCKING FORCE RIPS THE WHOLE SHIP IN HALF, the 2 ruined pieces strewn to either side of him, as they crash into the mountain ranges to the left and right of the base.

Then out of the wreckage, FUCK!, It's SNOKE!, with a big ugly whelted scar across his midriff, and he's got the Knights of Ren with him, Then BOOM! we find out he is DARTH PLAGUEIS, and the knights are all resurrected clones of other EU Darths ! It's fucking darthapalooza, and Luke doesn't care, because he's brought some friends too, the Slave 1 lands behind him, and there's Boba Fett (FUCKING FACE TURN !!), and Ahsoka, and Starkiller and Dash Rendar, and every other bit of fanservice he could recruit, and it's a fucking glowstick swinging rave, every bit as good as the battle of Genonsis in AOTC.

Luke wrecks everyone, he and Ahsoka kiss, then you see the wreckage of Kylos ship move, and Ren emerges, pissed as hell, about to start some frothing rant about some shit, but LUKE COCKPUNCHES HIM ! fucking cuts him off mid sentence, then gestures over to R2 and 3PO saying "take these 2 over to the garage, I want them cleaned up before dinner, you can waste time with your friends when your chores are done", and Kylo slopes off droids in tow.

Luke stands in full frame shot, double ended lightsaber pointed skyward, Ahsoka draped around his feet in a perfect Hildebrandt poster tribute, then looks over his shoulder to see all the force ghosts ever, just fist pumping the air breakfast club style and high fiving each other. Fucking perfect.

That's the Luke Skywalker and Star Wars I know and love.

The reason Luke dies after projecting himself across the Galaxy is explained earlier when Kylo and Rey first share their link, Kylo says to Rey "This can't be you doing this, the effort would kill you". Hence it kills Luke when he does it.

The casino world was pretty integral to the story as it explains it's not all light vs dark, but also rich vs poor.

Most of the complaints I've seen are just people who didn't understand the scene or weren't paying attention.
