Big nationals or multinationals can't make 'craft' beer right?

I can't see what the definition would be.

I can see some hipster bellends around Hackney Wick area brewing up in a disused public lavatory having some claim to be making something 'craft'.

Drinking strong belgian beer has ruined me.  I now feel a bit underwhelmed when drinking anything under 5%.

I used to find the taste of the alcohol too strong in belgian beers but there are a few where you don't notice it so much, and then after a while you just get used to it with the others!

Agree with this.

Also strong alcoholic beers, besides tasting strongly of alcohol, will have strong flavours amungst them to compensate so they end up tasting much nicer once you get over the strength.

I hate sigs

I recall some of those Belgian beers adding sugar/fructose to mask the alcohol content.

Oh ye m8. They get sugar in them from fermentation kek. But things like Desperado's have refined sugar added to them afterwards

shipyard is a lovely drop

and yeah, punk ipa and gamma ray really aren't for long sessions... dead pony club and neck oil are their similar-tasting-but lower-alcohol-content versions

Had a Sunday session on Punk IPA the week before last, I didn't make it to work Monday. You really can't session on some of these beers

This.

Definitely. Over Christmas all we had back at the parents place was either strong german beer or crate after crate of Punk IPA. Got so ruined so often.

Stronger beers can be useful if you have just had a massive meal and then want to get pissed after. I find you can drink about 8 pints of standard lager or ale after a big carby meal. Went for a big birthday Italian last week, but started on that aforementioned Five Points 7.1% one - two pints is all you need to be on your way.

not quite..  you're talking about lambiek which is sour beer.  it's brewed in a unique way which makes it sour to varying degrees.  fruit is commonly added to make beers such as kriek (lambiek with cherries in).

For me it's not necessarily the ABV but the hop content (either quantity, variety or both) that makes these beers too much after a couple of pints. Upset stomach and shitting through the eye of a needle.

Been drinking quite a few of the 500ml bottles of tyskie recently. I seem to be able to nurse them.

but most of these carbonated ales/craft beers are like drinking perfume

This! I have the worst luck with picking out craft beers, it's always like perfume, I don't have a clue who would like it - certainly not someone who enjoys a beer.

Have you had the Mad Goose? Same brewery that is lovely stuff. Fortunately the brewery is right near the inlaws and you can get the mini kegs there

I always thought Purity was brewed in the Black Country but I've just checked and it's near Alcester, Warwickshire.

They're a Midlands pub staple, they've even got Purecraft bar & kitchens in Birmingham and Nottingham now too.
