craft beer thread

had a search but couldn't find anything... just do a post and a little write-up when you drink a nice drop of something really. i'm always on the look-out for new beers to try

couple of good uns i've had recently:

Flying Dog Easy - light and refreshing ipa, with notes of grapefuit
 http://flyingdogbrewery.com/?beers=easy-ipa-2

Gnarly Fox - good session lager, now stocked in lidl for about £1.25 per 500ml bottle

Brewdog Elvis Juice 2.0 - another citrusy ipa. pretty strong. very tasty
https://www.brewdog.com/item/926/BrewDog/Elvis-Juice-V20---Prototype.html

Beavertown Neck Oil - excellent session ipa. a bit more refreshing than gamma ray imo

Hipsterbrau - hints of hackney canal water, beard dandruff and soiled dungarees, brewed in a disused underpants factory in Dalston and filtered through a ukelele.

Craft beer gives me a banging headache after only a few pints. those delicious chemicals in normal lager are there for a reason.

Im actually going to a beer festival tomorrow so will try plenty.

Brooklyn Lager is currently my preferred tipple. They do it everywhere now. That'll do me nicely.

Seems it's some sort of Americanism for beer being brewed by an independent.

How awful.

A craft beer goes well with a hot dog and destabilising the Middle East.

it's basically any beer or lager that isn't the usual huge-brewery shite they serve in wetherspoons

why would you want to drink fosters or stella when you can get something that actually tastes nice instead?

and rhys - my mate has actually been brewing his own beer called hipsterbrau  i'll pass on your idea about the soiled dungerees

Americans really do ruin everything. They've even somehow managed to ruin beard guys. How do you spoil something already so awful?

I dont get the fad for importing an American version of a beer England exported to India. All they've done is make it overly fizzy and thrown far too many hops in it.

not that i frequent spoons often, but i thought they had always prided themselves on the range of ales available, most of which aren't from large breweries.

That's just an ale, the term craft beer can fuck off.

This shit is amazing and they sell it in Wetherspoons. Does that disqualify it as 'craft'?

If more than a million have been sold then it's automatically disgusting.

Got a couple of these in over Xmas;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mad-About-Craft-Lager-Gift-Set-Case/dp/B00X7K1S06

2 were lovely. 2 were average. 1 was minging.

We have a full sized stella fridge like the one below and it was fully stocked up over Christmas. I found myself going for Sol, Millers and Heineken over all the fancy lager/cider for the most part. Craft stuff is overrated.

Re: craft beer thread 2016/02/16 13:12:24 (permalink)
I like trying different craft beers but I always forget what I've had so it's a lottery every time.

There's something nice about knowing the beer was made in a dusty shed in small batches by some local spectacled beardo rather than in a 9000 litre chemically treated sterile stainless steel silo.

Or maybe I'm just a prick

Yeah I like a few but not 100% sure which so often time I'll just settle for a peroni/amstel.

Punk IPA and Camden Ale are the only ones I know I like.
