New Remember 'The City Is My Friend' just landed on Dream Catalogue. Really nice vibes on this LP. Highly recommend checking it out. Definitely takes you to somewhere else.

Also, 2814 drop an absolute world class 12" on Arcola records.

Moving away from their purely atmospheric Vaporwave sound on LP's 2814, BoAND and Rain Temple; here they produce 2 tracks (approx. 10 minutes a piece) that touch on Techno, UK Garage (almost Burial-esque) and their signature dream-synth Vapor style.

This 12" is insanely good. The pressing and mastering is perfection. Really gave me the feels of hearing Burial for the first time again. So good.

Subsurface
I've been enjoying this stuff, especially 2814 and Remember.

It's nice to have a different sound in ambient music. I've been a fan of Boards of Canada and stuff of that style for a long time, but this futuristic night time asian city vibe is really cool.

Not sure it deserves a genre name of it's own, but there you go.

Good to hear you've been enjoying it man.

Actual 'Vaporwave' runs a bit deeper than 2814 and HKE, Remember, etc. Check out some of the earlier stuff which was much more sample-based. The stuff 2814 put out is more cross-genre ambient and less sampled but I guess Vaporwave is quite a broad term that encompasses more styles now than it used to.

A lot of the early stuff was all based around chopping up 80's synth music, tv adverts, etc. This is when it got it's name but since then it's changed a lot and more stuff is accepted as 'Vaporwave'.

But yeah - keep digging man, there's some really amazing music out there.

not bumped this in a while - gonna do so with my boi George Clanton.

drawing on many different styles / genres but predominantly 80's synthwave /synth-pop - George is making new music that holds a heavy nostalgia for that time. big swirling synths and tape delays. vocals by himself.

can't see it being for everyone but I love it. takes me somewhere else, like a lot of the stuff in this thread.

100% Electronica is Clanton's first LP - 10/10, imo.

Here's George doing a live set of his music and mash-ups of some other stuff. You can tell the guy absolutely loves what he does. Lives, eats and breathes his music, doesn't sleep too much apparently.

Enjoy

So - I went to see Negative Gemini at the Shacklewell Arms in London last Friday night. It was pretty splendid - check out this album from her:

Mostly house / old skool / techno vibes - I think plenty on here will like it.

BUT - she (Lindsey French) is George Clanton's girlfriend, the guy who's music I've posted above (as George Clanton / ESPRIT). She's touring Europe (hence going to the gig) and he's been travelling with her and running the merch stand, etc. as they're obviously not massive so gotta do all that shit themselves.

I stuck around after the gig and managed to meet him which was awesome. There were a few people waiting to talk to him and it was taking ages and I thought they were taking the piss but once he got to me he just wouldn't stop talking. He had all the time in the world to talk about his music and what they'd been up to on tour - so friendly and humble - I was so made up. Grabbed both of her cassettes and they both signed them.

Also Kate managed to get a decent photo of us on the Instax which is a fucking lottery at the best of times. It's SUPER geeky but I kind of idolise this guy and his music has helped me through some shit in the last couple of years. The photo is hilarious because instead of putting his arm around me he decided to hold me in some sort of embrace

Boring story, TLDR, etc. I met some guy who makes music I love.

I've started getting into this stuff recently. I decided to play Vice City again for the first time since it came out around the same time and it fits really well with that. There seems to be loads of different subgenres but the only one I can tell apart is Simpsonswave. It's all good though.

nice that you're exploring the genre - what you've posted up there is more synth-wave but similar in many ways. check out Carpenter Brut if you're liking that sort of sound.
