I will often touch the platter when cueing up but in the mix its pitch chase all the way unless it's going seriously wrong.

I find slightly adjusting the pitch on both turntables in the mix is the way forward.

Yup, this is pretty much exactly me.  Touching the platter is always preferable before it's in the mix, you don't have to over compensate for any adjustments that way, like you would with the pitch.

If they’re under a grand each I’ll be interested.

Mad that my mk2’s are probably my oldest possessions, they’re 23 this year.

They have to compete with Pioneers £600 Plx1000’s.

I’d hope they’re under a grand too.

Seems like it, exciting! Surely it’ll be more cost effective version of the GR with slightly cheaper components, they could get it down to around 800ish. If they went made in China they could get the price right down but hopefully they don’t do that.

Just having a close look at the teaser clip, looks like +16 and the pitch reset button has gone, the strobe light is back as red, weirdly they’ve made the 0 light red as well rather than green. It’s hard to tell but it looks like the outer construction is made of three parts rather than two, with some plastic on the base rather than all rubber.

Did anyone actually buy those most recent technics just to mix on? Or was it mostly neckbeard muso-hipsters listening to Edith Piaf?

Seems like they tick all the boxes.

Fingers crossed for a reasonable price then I’ll probably swap out the mk2s for these. Should last me until I’m old and grey.

Second hand market is gonna take a battering eh.

There’s a Technics feature here.

https://www.technics.com/global/sl1200/

Looks like the same motor from the GR, they’re a couple of kilos lighter so I wonder what’s changed.

Lighter platters, different material for dampening/isolation I would suggest.

Yeah the weight change is a slight worry, they shouldn’t have changed anything.
The weight helps keep them stable, i worry they’ve just done a cost cutting excercise thoughout using cheaper parts and (obviously) still increase the price

£1500 each I reckon

Nah, definitely not that much. Under a grand.

Their SL1200GR’s were £1100

Without claiming to have gone into the technical side as much as you guys, I would say taking on board feedback from the GR’s functionality/price, then coming back with a deck for DJs with an even higher tag would be madness.

Was thinking it’d be cleverly weighted between the GR price & a small jump from the current top DJ decks - hoping £1500-£1600 would be a pair 😂

Total guess but I think they’ll be $999, so whatever that translates to in English, around 800ish.

I'm liking the matt black everything, hope it's not disguising a more plasticky feel to the buttons and pitch though.

£1,500 for a pair is about as much as I could justify spending I think. Fingers crossed they're less than that, wishful thinking though. Won't be buying until I've read the opinion of a proper DJ who knows what they're on about.

It shouldn’t feel plasticky, it’s still got the aluminium top plate and it’s hard to see what they’ve changed, from the outside at least. The platter is .7kg lighter than the GR but still roughly the same as a MK2.

They’ve also made this 1500C without the pitch section, not messing about are they!

Yeah if they get glowing reviews from people I trust I'll be quite likely to splash out.

Also depends on how much I can get for my beat up mk2s.

How beat up? Probably get more if you sell them now, than when the MK7s are available.

Typically beat up 1210’s are about £600 a pair, mint ones with boxes and perfect lids are £1000 a pair.
