Re: Rugby World Cup 2015 2017/02/10 12:11:48 (permalink)
Here's as objective as i can be

Scrum - I'm expecting parity more or less.

Lineout - England have a huge advantage here and i full expect them to steal a good chunk of Welsh ball

Breakdown - Wales' best chance to win the game lies with Warburton and Tipuric fucking England's ball up neatly, something they are well capable of doing. Advantage Wales in this area.

Ball Carrying - Clifford should hopefully bolster this area for us. Moriarty vs Hughes will be one of the crucial battles in this game. Haskell and Teo coming off the bench did the job for us last week - expecting similar again.

Halfbacks - Sorry but i just do not rate Biggar at all. Youngs / Ford / Farrell vs Webb / Biggar / Williams is finely balanced imo. If our pack can do the business i expect the superior distribution of the England boys to prevail. Also Care off the bench has been putting plenty of zip into the game in the final quarter, huge impact last week.

Outside Backs - Wales have 1 who's any use, L Williams. The rest are complete shit or way past their best. Sorry but that's the truth. Brown - meh, Nowell - amazing player but not a classic finisher. Always visible. Daly - Still finding his feet on the wing but he looks a class act. 50m penalties don't hurt either.

I am expecting England to dominate the scrum unfortunately. Apart from Samson I don't rate our front line much.

Do you really consider North and 1/2 be to be complete shit/past their best? Come on m8.

Bit light on props there tbh

also Banahan? lol.

Also you don't even have Henshaw in your watch list. There's quite a few other insane selections in there but i'll leave those for now.

Charming. Banahan (who's been playing very well) not selected anyway. Just watching out for 'bolters' from club rugby - one of them usually gets on the plane. Likely Lions midfield lacks offloading/big carriers hence Burrell, Banahan etc.

What about Henshaw? One of the best ball carrying centres in the NH? Teo? Dunbar?

warb is a potential test starter. tipuric is not.

JD = proven lion. he'll be on plane.

laidlaw midweek captain - points and experience and no chance of sat start.

webb not in form.

toner will not fly.

henderson a special player. he'll be going for sure.

I would say Tipuric is 100% in contention for the 7 jersey, and if not a starter has an excellent chance of being in the 23. Not many other forwards in the NH with his skillset. If any.

And trust me i don't shower Welsh players with praise very often!

If Tipuric had Warburton's presence at the breakdown he would be an absolute destroyer.

Nel injured at the moment. Tipuric is great and in contention for sure. I just know the ABs would be far happier seeing him in 23 over Warbs. So, given other options available, IMO best result for Tipuric is getting on plane.

If O'Mahony is fit, he should be in serious contention to start First test at 6, with Stander impact off bench at 60 minutes, provided there are ball carriers at 7 (e.g. SO'B) and 8 (BV).

O'Mahony is an incredible specialist 6 and potential match-winner even if he doesn't have all-carrying threat of Stander.

Other option, Faletau - a superman - 6 and Vunipola 8. Stander bench.

If BV is fit, he plays, simple.

I don't like that Telegraph thing. It won't let you pick Russell or Farrell at 10.
