All I wanted was a nice context free game of Slurs and the bloody PC thought police had to come and ruin it.

Also not even remotely surprising it appears the father concerned is an active Tory (SNCC=South Norwood Conservative Club):

Well, people have been arrested over Hillsborough "jokes", should they not have been?

Nobody should be arrested over a joke. One person's '96 Sardines' is another man's 'Let's change the letters on a theatre to MAGGIES DEAD LOL'

Neither should be illegal, nor should this Grenfell “joke” tasteless as it is.

The only possible crime here is under the Communications Act which is another complete can of worms.

That (as far as I can see) would make the original uploader of the video in criminal breach and potentially anyone that circulated it (ie retweet) guilty of causing “alarm and distress”.

I imagine the original uploader was probably disgusted and received it virally via WhatsApp.

Might have known you'd be in here defending that fuckery. Over 72 people literally burnt to death and you think that's fair game for lols? Shame on you.

I'd ask if your reaction would be the same if it was a group of muslims being equally vile about the Manchester bombings, but we already know the answer to that, dont we?

I’m not defending the fuckery, I repeatedly criticized it. I merely said this should not be an issue for the police. I’m defending the principles of free speech and pointing out that this is potentially an extremely slippery slope and legally a can of worms.

What would you like to happen? Put them in stocks and toss rotten fruit at them? Criminalize them for a sick joke at their own bonfire? You ever heard or made a sick joke on private land? Or even chuckled at one?

This place has been full of them down the years.

Police now raiding their house searching for “evidence”.

They’ve been publicly shamed and will now live in eternal digital infamy.

Fucking circus.

Yep. And they’re still in custody.

Ridiculous. Policing by consent is now policing by social media hysteria.

Tasteless yes, illegal no.

They’re claiming Norwood, that’s basically the posher part of Croydon.

Hard to see what crime has been committed for me.
Is it cos it went online, so if it hadn’t gone online then that would be ok?

They’re pretty much fucked now, better off going down the ‘free-speech-fighter’ angle like Tommy, get ya crowdfunding game up and move cos they’ll get their wigs split in Croydon within days.

Someone sent it on WhatsApp and it got forwarded on and ended up on twitter.

If they have jobs, they’ve lost them. If they have businesses then they’ll lose their clients. They’ve been publicly shamed and a record of it will exist online forever.

Do the police really need to raid their homes?

Meanwhile, Sinead O ‘Connor and her “intelligent theologian” journey to Islam seems to be coming along nicely.

“I never want to spend time with white people (if that’s what non-Muslims are called). Not for any moment, for any reason. They are disgusting”.

Seems to be beyond her intelligent theologian’s wit to realize there are white Muslim people like herself. Millions of them.

So the police don't send police out for burglaries but will do for a bad taste effigy being burned in a garden ..right...

As for Sinead O'Connor - she is well known mentally ill. None news story.

I agree with the "joke" being in awful taste but it really isn't illegal in my eyes.

The karmic aspect is what I'm happy about though in that they have been unmasked and have to bear any consequences of that

It's no more illegal than people burning poppies etc, just signifies what kind of cunt you're dealing with.

There's a picture of Hulk Hogan knocking down the twin towers, whilst I recognise 9/11 was awful I've definitely laughed at that picture and probably other things related, does that make me a cunt, yes probably in some people's eyes.

Freedom of speech doesn't entitle a person to freedom from criticism.

Nope, but the police should stay the fuck out of it.

Let’s be honest, most of us have probably laughed at a sick joke about a tragedy or something inappropriate in our time.

Even Comrade Whagwan, the Sultan of self-righteousness, was only recently joking that Lyndon Crosby had perpetrated the Manchester Bombings to affect the General Election result while bodies were still being scraped off the floor, pointing to the proud lineage of sick jokes on here as his defence.

You could probably find a joke to tell about most drowning people if you wanted. Unless they were drowning in front of you that is, so distance plays a part as well.

I would joke about any subject because I'm not a sensitive little snowflake.

I remember the days when comedians could say anything without having to apologise to save their career.

Comedians should 100% have free reign to make jokes about anything they like but at the same time all those 80s comics cracking on about wogs and pakis made me ashamed to human.

Not sure where you draw the line though. Ricky Gervais got slaughtered for making jokes about Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner and Dave Chappelle caught similiar shit for joking about trans people in his recent specials but I saw them more along the lines of social commentary, which is exactly the sort of stuff stand-up comedians should be talking about.

Pointing out the inherent absurdity surrounding an issue that's been a big talking point isn't hate speech.
