she'd better not say merry christmas this year or i'll be livid!

I would truly struggle to care less than whether May wished me a Happy Christmas or not.

yet you are bothered that she says eid mubarak.

I’d like to see a formal separation between religion and state. Hardly controversial.

She can say “happy Eid” if she wants. I doubt she or many other people give too much of a shit about this or any other religious festival that has no historical legacy in this country to make it vaguely relevant today.

Could anyone look less genuine, and more desperate to appear not so?

Can you blame her?

How much enthusiasm would you have for celebrating a fairytale responsible for enforcing oppression and misery all over the world?

You forgot to put in a 'Not all Muslims' disclaimer m8.

Just wouldn't want you called up on this next time someone calls you out and you respond that you don't blanket generalise.

It doesn’t need a disclaimer, unless you are confusing a “fairytale” book with 1.6 billion human beings, many of whom are directly oppressed by the teachings of said book(s).

Don't you always claim that you don't say Islam itself is evil?

I think you mean “independent thinker”.

Islam isn’t innately or wholly evil, it certainly teaches more than it’s fair share of it though.

I see very little to celebrate about such an oppressive belief system personally.

If the idea is that there's a fair share of evil and everyone gets a likkle slice then atheists should really step up with some heinous acts to at least make things proportional.

To put May’s gritted teeth in some context, there’s currently somebody in the dock at the Old Bailey who was days away from suicide bombing Downing Street and trying to chop her head off at the gates.

No prizes for guessing what religion he followed. I doubt I’d be singing the call to prayer in celebration for the end of Ramadan in the same situation either tbh.

Your point being?  Corbyn had a right wing nutter who actually killed someone with his intended murder weapon after spending the day driving around trying to find the parade JC and Sadiq Jhan were marching on.

Seem to remember a nut job murdering an MP in the street 2 years ago.

No prizes for guessing what ideology he followed.

My point being that if somebody was trying to savagely kill me in the name of Islam, I personally would be unlikely to be falling over myself to celebrate the religious festivals of said religion.

A key difference is that Darren Osborne was widely pegged as a right wing nutjob whipped up into a frenzy by ideology but more prevalent and brutal Islamist terrorists have “nothing to do” with the “religion of peace” . How many times does the “no true Scotsman” fallacy get wheeled out when it’s another Allah Akhbar lunatic?

Seem to recall a group of guys currently on trial for plotting to kill another Labour mp. I wonder what their ideals were?

Both Darren Osbourne and National Action directly copied jihadist tactics.

All the more reason to get a grip on the whole thing and that’s not with banal mealy mouthed platitudes.

Done this.

After being challenged that I didn’t have any solutions and just moaned about a metastasizing problem that I don’t see being dealt with, I posted bullet pointed suggestions and there wasn’t actually a whole lot of disagreement with them.

No it hasn't.
It still has to be voted on in the EU Parliament by the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED MEPs. At which point It'll likely get thrown out.

But don't let that get in the way of your Daily Express headline

Urgh. That’s rancid. Why should an elected head of state defer to a monarch anyway?

Bring on a secular republic.
