23 Russian diplomats to be expelled (hopefully including their gobshite ambassador) and a UNSC meeting called.

That’s a start.

Handwritten by Seamus Milne by candlelight underneath his Putin shrine.

Strange that Corbyn is so quiet on Putin. Has he criticized him even once since he has became Labour leader?

Yeah, you'd think someone with his views on human rights would be very anti-Putin.

Maybe Putin's got a vid of him pissing on prostitutes too.

His response was very odd, surely it's obvious to get behind the PM in instances like this rather than bizarrely trying to push the blame onto Tory cuts to diplomats

Proper own goal, his critics are gonna jump all over it. Will cost him some votes.

here's hoping it drives us together, but given how weak and incompetent May and Trump are i'm not holding out much hope.

How would you feel with strongman Corbyn at the helm handling this?

Milne and parts of the hard left have a bizarre affection for Russia (and by extension Putin) that didn’t end with the Cold War, despite Putin being a murderous human rights abusing thug.

Corbyns anti-NATO and hardly a critic of Russia. Was obvious he'd be reluctant to say much.

He’d have been better not saying “much” rather than parroting Lavrov’s sneaky fucking Russian smokescreen talk over the last few days literally word for word.

They do this every time as a means of obfuscation, most recently on the Malaysian Airlines bombing.

Yet more abject naivety, poor judgment and questionable alliances from the self-proclaimed “PM in waiting”.

dunno, *probably* better off. hard ot imagine how a corbyn govt could handle the state of the nation any worse. may's inneffectual leadership and pig headed shittery over brexit with those other countries who form the bedrock of our international support has done more to undermine our ability to mount an effective response than some hypothetical anti-corbyn whataboutery. i'm allowed to call the current administration pathetically shit and be dismayed (ayy) at our ability to respond effectively on the international stage through self inflicted wounds without the spectre of Jez being raised.

I agree that May has been historically weak on Russia, though this response has been robust.

If May is weak on Russia then Corbyn is pathetically feeble.

yeah, but that "robust" response is totally undermined by her being shit on the world stage (and at being an actual human). Is she going to ask for more EU sanctions? boot dirty russian cash out of london? nothing will happen apart from russia will get even more brazen and emboldened.

She’s no Churchill, that’s for sure. The alternative would be far worse here. Corbyn would further fracture NATO, our key security relationship with the US and has bizarre Russophilia.

Putin would eat him alive.

So Corbyn is being "slammed" for not condemning Russia although it's not been proven that Russia did it?

He has a Trump like aversion to criticizing Russia full stop. Even Trump has pointed the finger here.

He’s a human rights crusader with some remarkable blind spots.

Right, I get that he was pretty soft in PMQs on this topic, but what exactly is this supposed to imply? He's in cahoots with the Russians, or is on their payroll or what? I find that pretty difficult to believe.

Whilst Corbyn is normally rather hushed on Russian matters, he's probably doing the right thing not steaming in to this headfirst until we know for sure that Putin is behind it. I mean, there's no real urgency to start throwing your weight around prematurely. (Isn't that what led us in to a war in Iraq previously?)

Stick to International law, get the facts, go through the proper channels. No doubt he'll be brandished as a Russian Spy and an enemy of the people in the tabloids tomorrow

Theresa May is the PM. This is her issue, not Corbyns.

Had he came out an straight up 187'd Russia then everyone would be calling him a moron for jumping the proverbial, to try and shift some criticisms on him when facts aren't even figured is laughable. It's catch 22 always

Corbyn is not a leader , he is a protest politician , when dealing with strong leaders like Putin who think fair play is a form of weakness you need to be as ruthless as he is .

Agree, but he shouldn't have tried point scoring off the Tories on this one. Just makes him look stupid. He's been badly advised there and I'm disappointed he didn't realise it himself.

Exactly.

I'm a Corbyn fan, but he's got it all sorts of wrong on this. He's handed loads of ammunition to his enemies, watch the tabloids go in hard on the front pages tomorrow.

Would of been much better off keeping it short and sweet and not giving too much away.

Our intelligence services have already called it and frankly I’m inclined to believe them.

There is one country and one country alone that has shown a repeated and increasingly brazen appetite for assassinating Russian dissidents in the UK - the Russian Federation.
