What was the relevance of the nail bar in BB? I remember seeing it but can't remember in which context. Did Saul still have an office there?

He wanted Jesse to buy it with his first bundle of massive cash to launder.

I assume Saul's office as seen in BB is on the same compound as the nail bar

he put the idea forward to jesse so he could appear to have a business and pay taxes etc

I'm liking this so far although it is pretty slow..

Enjoyed a lot... Odenkirk is a very watchable guy, laughed a fair bit.

Brilliant start. The first show since Breaking Bad that I feel I could just watch all day.

yeah, it's pretty good... interesting more than thrilling at this stage...i don't know what i was expecting, but it wasn't what i was expecting! i like that already it definitely has its own identity

a whole show about saul as we know him already would've got quite dull quite quickly, but starting with jimmy and showing his evolution into saul is a smart move

good to see tuco, but i didn't think his performance was great. that scene in the desert went on too long and got a bit nudge-nudge-wink-wink cringey. his boss seems like a great character though, glad he's taking centre-stage

hard to see where it's going, or how formulaic, case-of-the-weeky it will become, but i'm definitely keen to watch a few more

Less homages nods and winks, the one scene that jarred me was when Tuco's face loomed out the front door at the end of the first episode, he nearly broke the forth wall it was so deliberate... I don't need that shit

Rest of it was great though...

Watched the first 2. Sick.

What's up with Chuck?

Gonna be so sick when it gets to series 2-3 and Gus, Walt, Jesse etc turn up. I wonder if they'll explore Gus and his time in Chile? Perhaps they'll explore how Mike ends up working for Gus?

Tuco definitely doesn't seem as unhinged In this. Makes sense tho.

First two were great. Definitely had that Breaking Bad feel to it. Agree about the desert scene though, the whole hit and run storyline felt a little contrived.

Its a MTTBM that Better Call Saul is already number 3 on IMDB's list of highest rated TV Series. How can you possibly judge it on 2 episodes? They should not let people vote for the series as a whole until at least 1 full series has been shown.

It's just living off the Breaking Bad name.. So far it's been dry.

I've sided with watching lillyhammer over this.

IMDB has always been a bit of a joke with ratings tho. Shit blockbusters with 9.9 ratings every time

It's not a patch on BB. First episode was quite poor but it has improved.

It's almost a parody of Breaking Bad though. I hope they don't play up to thick Breaking Bad fans who see Walter White as some kind of superhero. Tuco popping his head out of the door like a pantomime character was not a good sign.

I expect we will only see them in passing, and the other characters will be explored.

Exactly my thoughts. That's not really much of a dramatic ending without knowing that character, so it seemed to me it doesn't have much substance as it's own show. Will give it a go, but not buying the hype at all

Is anyone else waiting for a scene with a cameo of Walt buying his groceries in the background or something?

It goes without saying that we're judging two episodes. Everybody is.

However, compare the first two episodes of Breaking Bad to the first two of Better Call Saul. Worlds apart. Obviously Better Call Saul could go on to be brilliant, but at this stage it doesn't stand up to the praise or ratings it's been getting, IMO.

I think it's great.  It's a lot more lighthearted that Breaking Bad, but just as watchable, to me anyway so far.

considering it's very early days i think it's pretty good... nothing more, nothing less. episode 3 is the best one yet by quite a long way imo

I'm enjoying it. Episode 3 isnt as strong, but still good.

Fuck comparing it to bb. There's a lot worse shit on tv you could be watching.

And I like the cameos. It feels good to know the characters from the off and not have to spend half a season working them out.

Breaking Bad had so many strong characters that I think its well worth expanding on their stories, rather that just Walt and Jessie's. As long as we don't have to find out about Skyler or Walt Jr I'm happy.. They were cunts.
