I’m also in the market for a decent laptop for boring office work. Thinking i5 8gb 256gb sdd. Budget up to £700. Seems to be lots of choice but I have no idea what to get/avoid?

Can't be hard to choose a laptop if it's not for gaming, just get one with an i5, 8GB Ram, SSD. Hotukdeals.com is decent for finding budget laptops.

I like the dell XPS 13. My Dell has been annoying me today though so I kinda say this reluctantly.

MacBook / macbook airs are good. Probably a bit over budget though.

I know fuck all about laptops, missus is after a new one for approx £300.  Happy to go refurbished etc.  Any tips?

Get one with a smaller SSD rather than a larger mechanical.
