I think all the TV stations get the same feed from the stadium so it will have been shown briefly as a goal everywhere.

I know I whinged about it other thread but why were Englands corners so shit and wasteful ???

We must have had about 10 corners and never looked like scoring from a single one

Thought that might be where we were dangerous as well. That Rooney corner must be up there with the worst ever seen at a World Cup.

Thought we played well myself. Seen a lot of negativity but please we went for it, and we played some decent stuff. Deserved a draw at least but that's FOOTBALL

Anyone know if it comes down to goal difference or head to head to get out of the group?

I guess I just don't let being English get in the way of my views, it was progression and I can understand being slightly happy that we look like we are turning a corner, but people are getting a bit too excited, if we had more composure and wasn't so static in the final third we could've easily got something out of the game. A few good runs that ended up as nothing and a couple good shots is exciting to watch but it doesn't paper over the fact that for large parts we were very, very predictable, and typical england. "Went for it" yeah in he same way liverpool went for it it against Chelsea (lol) we were practically standing still with the ball in their half, no movement or intelligent/unselfish off the ball runs

I can't speak for you obviously, but personally I don't know anyone who is getting excited or going OTT. I have very low expectations so that performance was decent imo

my criticisms of wasting corners is not a doom & gloom manic kneejerk reaction folks.
Just we seemed to have loads of corners compared to Italy and never looked like scoring from one. Which was itself a bit odd.

I agree we actually played pretty well but just some basic stuff was weirdly lacking. Have to wonder what we do in training regarding corners and set plays. As we weren't just wasteful in taking them but were also poor at defending them

Had low to no expectations last night so was pleased the way we played, Rooney should not be on the left! Sterlings pace is a weapon we need to use again on Thursday as they are paceless at the back, ps our central defence is weak...

Thread needs a gif of wazza's wonder corner.

Re getting nothing out of the game, Italy deserved their 3 points for me.

We should definitely get out of the group though. Uruguay should be a formality. Will be interesting to see how Costa Rica do against Italy, we need them to get thrashed really.

Rooney tho set up first goal and worked hard is in danger of becoming a joke figure at world cups.
Cliché to say but is embarrassing not scored in world cup and yet again wasted a chance when was through on goal against Italy. That corner whilst embarrassing , Gerrard and Baines took almost as bad corners.

Be interesting see how much Rooney plays under Van Gaal...

I can't see where our next English manager is going to come from I bet there are more Italians managing at top clubs than English . The premier league has to many foreign managers at top clubs . Not enough English players playing in the different leagues around Europe the national team will never improve . Producing players with good technical ability not giving the ball away cheaply

I don't think we could have done much more.

Obviously, tactical mistakes were made by Roy. Bringing on Wilshire seemed odd. The failure to address the left hand side problem. And not bringing on Lambert.

But generally, we approached the game in a way that we were all crying out for after the recent tournaments. We attacked with youth, pace and flair.

We are still being held back by what has held us back for years. Inferior technically ability and coaching.

Some good, skillfull young players has helped, but we still pass it to slow, and are uncomfortable under pressure.

It's a definite improvement.

No game changing decision but even so.

Jackson Martinez can't get into the Ecuador team, Clarke Carlisle? Funny that. Another degenerate commentator stealing a living.

ITV football really are an absolute shower.

But basic information like which countries players play for. The guy has been flown out to Brazil, paid grands to commentate and doesn't even know that. Their coverage is insulting. Remember last time when they cut to adverts as Gerrard scored?

ITV should be banned from covering football.
Only highlight ITV had was Roy Keane's rants and now that's gone.

It (sort of) happened again - ITV Player crashed just before Neymar scored Brazil's second. They are a joke organisation.
