Just popped in to say true detective. Normally mcconaughey is an instant NO, but this is good.

I'm also enjoying the second series of the bridge. Although they have turned saga's autism to 11

I actually rate McConaughey now, he's got quite a few good performances if you look past the romcoms.

McConaughey has been absolutely on fire for well over a year now, fairplay to him.

And yeah, True Detective has started promisingly, really enjoying it.

Breaking bad is seriously overrated. I liked it but it's nowhere near as good as the wire or sopranos. Too much shit acting from pinkman.

Game of thrones is also not really that great. It's watchable but some bits feel like a CBBC show and bar a few characters the acting is woeful.

House of cards starts again soon that show is serious!

Bunch of other guilty pleasures worth watching for entertainment in between these:
Suits
Entourage
Battlestar galactica
Deadwood
Mad men
House of lies

Shit acting from Pinkman, lol.

No need to feel guilty about enjoying Mad Men or Deadwood either.

Pinkman is not good. He's a retarded character who is always either shouting or crying. He only has those modes.

I know mad men and deadwood aren't really guilty pleasures as they are both actually decent series, but I couldn't be arsed to reword the sentence once it was written.

Yeah I can't say I ever rated him that much, would definitely never have checked for a film specifically because he was in it anyway. But this past year or so he has been cropping up all over the place and putting in top class performances. Mud and Dallas Buyers Club especially. And True Detective. Fair play to the guy.

he can be hit and miss but he's got some great films/performances in his locker. from recent years, Sahara and The Lincoln Lawyer are very underrated films

check his SAG speech from the weekend too - the guy goes in

Aaron Paul is pretty shoddy in the earlier seasons, I agree. He's nowhere near bad enough for it to make the show shit in anyway though. I'd go as far as saying his performance in season 5 is very good.

GOT's has multiple actors who are as bad.

Jonathan Banks will reprise his role as Breaking Bad's beloved henchman Michael “Mike” Ehrmantraut on AMC/Sony TV's upcoming spinoff series, Better Call Saul.

Currently appearing on NBC's Community as Professor Buzz Hickey, who is in many ways Greendale's version of Ehrmantraut, Banks will join Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk in the prequel series which traces the origins of ambulance chasing lawyer by day, all around criminal fixer by night, weekends, and much of his day, Saul Goodman. Deadline is reporting that Banks will be a series regular on the show, which means that he will be a part of Goodman's journey to become the man that would be Walter White's lawyer.

you are very wrong about BB.

i think they've ditched the 'real-time' angle

bit more info on it here http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/attack-the-block-john-boyega-24-1201069844/

yeah i know...but let's be honest, they played it pretty fast and loose with 'real-time' after the first series

i remember the first three series being really good, five being quite interesting, but then the rest kind of all just merge into one another

kinda lost interest when guys like david palmer, bill buchanon, michelle and tony were replaced by various annoying nerds

True, can't really remember the series in detail other than the 1st few being better than the later ones.

Plus I got into it quite late so did box set after box set - meant for weeks at a time I found myself in various everyday sitautions asking myself what would Jack Bauer do

About to start True Detective. Heard it's a mini series so no chance of multiple seasons ruining a good thing.

Not really. Everyone is just caught up in the hype IMO, same as GoT.

When I watched BB I went through series 1, then didn't even bother with the rest until it was approaching the final season. By the end I didn't care if Walt lived or died as he was an ass.

The wire and sopranos I watched back to back with minimal gaps because they were just that engrossing.

Just watched the 3rd episode of True detective and it keeps drawing me in further and further, can't wait for the next episode. The dialogue is sick. Hold tight Eli Thompson appearing in everything I'm watching at the moment.

I didn't say BB wasn't good, it's just not in the same league as the wire or sopranos. As the series went on I disliked Walt more and more and by the end Saul and Hule were the only enjoyable characters.

I guess many people see the science aspect of it as something to marvel at, but having studied chemistry for 10 years it didn't add anything for me apart from inaccuracies.
