Hospitality is all in tents. Which is good cause it's going to piss it down all afternoon/evening

Hospitality was muddy.

I was sat on a sofa for the most of the day. Sick.

I really enjoyed ‘Hospitality’ yesterday, but then again I didn’t leave the jungle tent really.

Nu:Tone played the perfect ‘Blue Note’/Bristol set, & SP was on point with knowing his tunes.

^^ A great day despite the rain/mud...

Foreign Beggars, Logistics, Dillinja, Breakage and Goldie/Lowqui were our personal highlights.

The BSE set was pretty sick except there was no tarp on the floor in the 'let it roll' tent where we were, so ankle deep in mud, not the best surface for a skank. Tarps all over would have helped.

Next year, make it in May / June maybe guys? I was kinda the designated driver for our group but others were falling over and getting covered in mud in between tents, not great when you're on one.

^^ Yeah I know - none of us would have said the word 'tarps' under any context before Saturday, but by the time we left we were experts on the subject.

One other thing - from a management/HR perspective.

One of my mates pre-booked a locker for his rucksack - got there about 3.45 after travelling 200 miles odd... and queued for more than half hour to put his bag away. Hmm yeah so far, it was just that there was this woman in the booth next to the locker place - sat on a basic chair, behind a simple, fold-up one person desk, with a banner above her head reading 'INFORMATION'.

Thing was she was sat there, doing literally nothing except speak to people about every 10-15 mins when they had a question. The rest of the time she was staring into some blank space in front of her.

Meanwhile, about 5 yards away, there were one or two others behind the locker booth counter doing their best to get the queue down, seemingly aware that everyone was soggy from the rain, and dying to get to the bar and spend all their tokens on warm beer thus maximising the profits for the owners of the event.

Not this woman though. I walked up to her and asked 'do you have to queue if you've pre-booked?' - to which she replied 'yes'. What I wanted to ask was 'is it even remotely possible for you to help get this queue down in the booth next to you instead of sitting on your arse doing fuck all?' but I'm just too nice.

Think of supermarkets - the managers see large queues and ask all available trained staff to help out. Seemingly a basic, sensible management tactic you'd think - apparently not at the festival.

She looked a bit middle aged/middle class, so I thought she may have been one of the label bosses wives, thus working in a cloakroom was probably a bit beneath her.

Cool story bro, I'll say it for you.

Does it matter how old you are? Most of the D&B artists, DJ's, and MC's are 35+ years old anyway. It's music for people in there 30's, 40's and 50's. All the screeching noisy rubbish shit is for the kids.

That's not really true imo

Yes, Rupture and other niche/jungle nights would have a higher representation of older heads but your upfront dnb rave will always be full of 18-25s, screechy or whatever, it's made and played by 35 year olds yes but most of the people buying tickets and filling the dancefloor are a lot younger than that

It would have been amazing if it was planned for a better time of year. The mud slides we had to stumble through were awful. There should have been flooring set down EVERYWHERE. Not just over a portion in ONLY one tent. that was ridiculous.'

Lol. I don't think Razor is questioning your comments on the lack of floor coverage mate!

Going to Critical Sound on 8th December at E1. Looks so sick.

Critical Sound London
Critical Music are heading back to the underground after a packed summer that has seen them dominate stages at Let It Roll, Hospitality on the Beach and Boomtown Fair with their masterfully mixed, full impact Drum & Bass flavour. Rich in half-time steppers, minimal techy rollers and heavy-hitting neuro from producers the world over, the versatility in their underground sound reflects the Undivide mantra, slotting perfectly for a headline show featuring cutting edge minimal drum & bass label 1985 Music in E1’s Black Studio Room 2.

Critical Sound:
>> Hazard
>> Kasra b2b Enei
>> Serum
>> Halogenix
>> T>I b2b Benny L
>> Sam Binga b2b Foreign Concept ft. Fox
>> Klax b2b Hyroglifics b2b Shyun
Hosted by: Mantmast, Carasel, Jakes

1985 Music:
>> Alix Perez (2 hours)
>> Chimpo
>> Monty
>> Tim Parker
Hosted by: SP:MC

Undivide round off our debut run of shows this autumn by celebrating four years since Critical’s last event at E1 on Saturday 8th December. The label’s day party in May at Studio 338 took the scene by storm but as the nights get longer it’s time to head back underground with a well-constructed cross-spectrum showcase in Drum & Bass culture, taking place at London’s newest warehouse space.
