Due an upgrade and they are trying to shove this at me. Anyone got it? Seems a bit pricey and the deals are structured in a blaggy way but i want it. Might just hold on a while till the price stops being premium.

* disclaimer i am not a spaz they obviously wouldn't be throwing it at me if i lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere*

Only worth getting if you live in a city currently with 4G, but after about 10 miles out you can only get 3G

http://www.neowin.net/news/4g-uk-the-high-price-of-ees-monopoly

wait until 2013 when all operators get a look in, the other operators are upgrading their 3g networks to give 15-20mbit download speeds.

quote:

The first is that 3G has far more life in it than we thought. Aware that they'll be getting a marketing pounding from EE, which has an exclusive on LTE in the UK for some months, rival 3G operators have quietly been upgrading to the latest and much faster version of 3G. The latest flavour of 3G, dual-channel HSPA+, delivers quite amazing speeds on Three's network.

It consistently pumps 15Mbps to 20Mbps data down to handsets, though not, alas, near Reg HQ which is in the saturated West End of London. Three will have much of urban Britain blanketed with the go-faster 3G by the end of the year. Certainly, decent sized cities (including Leicester and Stoke) which have been snubbed by EE for the 4G launch, will be able to get the speed benefits.

It only came out a day ago or whatever im sure these prices will drop. its the deals that are dog shit, if you pay 150 upfront you can only get limited data.

Theres no way i can pay a wedge upfront and get unlimted data calls etc for a reasonable price its pay £50 for the phone then 56 a month. I think theyre just rinsing all the fiendy phone fags.

they're rinsing the fact that no one else is allowed to offer 4g in the UK yet.

Their prices wont drop until next year when ofcom does the auction for the other operators to jump in.

when you compare it to a £15 a month unlimited data (and no contract) sim on giff gaff, it starts to look ridiculous unless you're streaming movies on a regs or using it to completely replace home broadband

if you're streaming movies then your data limit will be eaten up in next to no time 8gb a month on the top level plan, 500mb a month on the lowest plan.

don't know what month I'm afraid whenever ofcom decides they fucked up by giving EE a monopoly.

Getting fast internet while also capping your download limit makes no sense. I'll stick with my unlimited 3g for now

think they have to give three some of their 3g range as part of the deal, the only one allowed to do 4g in the uk though is EE until the auction is done by ofcom next year.

The data caps they've put on this make the whole thing seem utterly pointless.

It'll be interesting to see what plans 3 come with seeing as data has always been the cornerstone of their business.

This thread is super awes you phaggits. 4g is stupid kewl and not at all pointless bc ofc you're going to need to dl massive 320 MP3s of pirated sets, or 720 blu-ray vids direct to your foane right now. I where streaming iPlayer BBC tv on my f aone earlier waiting in a haircut shop. It was acceptable on H tbh.

Seperate contract I think. Also Im sure I read the iPhone5 can only get 4g on the bands which are covered by EE or 3.
