Very impressive marketing. The name is everywhere - headphones in major high street stores, 'beats by dre technology' in quite a few phones & laptops (not just in gimmicky devices but decent high end stuff).

A few years ago they were nothing. The products are pretty shit and around twice the price they're worth, and there's no new technology. Yet HTC and HP are paying them millions upon millions simply for licensing the name.

The power of celebrity endorsements reminds me how rubbish humans can be. If I'm ever gonna launch an electronics brand, I'll get a hiphop legend to help!

So have any of yous fallen for it?

They've actually not long released a set of headphones aimed at DJs, I guess to take on the HD-25s. They sound better than the Sennheisers and are more comfortable on the head, so mission accomplished there I guess. But fuck the rest of them, in the arse, with no lube and the lights on. Ugh.

It really is as simple as....

Hip celebrity endorsement + rip off prices = instantly highly desirable product.

So pathetic, people are thick cunts.
I bet Dre cant believe how much dough he has made by doing absolutely fuck all.

I wouldn't be surprised if the internals are exactly the same as the Dre ones.

Didn't he develop the "b"?

Image is everarthing, bro.

Also, the sound isn't terrible, it's just better with other software. I prefered the internal graphic option on my old HTC. It's been a few months since I used it so I can't remember the name. "Enhanced" something or the other. That was actually than the "Beats" shit.

So they are basically like "Apple style" headphones... really expensive and aimed at certain group of people. Those, who are willing to buy anything that looks really cool and exclusive no matter what they cost.

And yes, they are really ugly.

I remember seeing that! Were thinking, "cheap version of Beats".
