I have not lived in my lovely hometown for many, many years. Just moved here and everything has changed? Can someone please recommend me decent nights/bars/good boozers - I went out last weekend and ended up in the Northern Quarter which is full of Hoxton looking types and shite music that I need some guidance. Obv not Warehouse Project + fac etc show me the hidden gems!

Downstairs bit of revolution was quite good last time I was up there. I pulled a chick and slipped her the finger. Check it out!

Deansgate or nothing. Oh, and there's a brothel in Stockport which is lovely.

The 3 places I used to love going to are now all boarded up! The Northern was ok the other night. Was horrified to find the first place I ever bought an alcoholic drink has now turned into a wanky bar with a deli in it :/

One time I went, it was a dnb night, pure sweaty blokes with tops off.

Other time, night was cancelled last minute.

Another time, it was a bassline night.

I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff on but coupled with the 24/7 rain my impressions haven't been the best.

Best bits were Daytona go karting and (if you like vacant glassy eyed looking strippers) Long Legs.

deansgate is wank, check out antwerp mansion, it's just off the curry mile. They have some great stuff on sometimes (GZA played there a bit back) and the atmosphere is pretty unique - i think there's been a dnb/garage night or two on there in the past

Kraak is a pretty grimy small venue too, you gotta pretty much clamber over some bins to get inside and the ceiling is covered in camo netting

Both the aforementioned have toilet facilities with walls lined with porn which is quite fun

I'm popping over 22nd September and will probably end up going to the Skeptical/Foreign Concept night at Dry Live. Hit me up if you fancy joining.

Manchester has massively changed since I was up there for University.

Went to see Brother Ali in the roadhouse a couple of months back, granted the Roadhouse is still a shit hole with a ceiling which rains on you about 2 hours into the gig but went drinking afterwards in the Northern Quarter and its properly full of posh bars and trendy wankers. Same with the area at the back of Oxford road leading down to Whitworth Street, that's all changed as well, loads of the old grimey venues have gone a bit wankerish
