I made a bacon caeser salad type thing the other day and put 8 rashers of some of the posh bacon from sainsburys in it. Was fucking awesome, but for the first time ever I found myself thinking 'that was too much bacon'
How anyone can say bacon better than steak I honestly can't fathom

You can't prefer bacon to steak, it's like saying you prefer rubbing a fanny to full penetration
I'm very picky with my steaks though, it has to be seasoned just right and reasonably rare for me to enjoy it. Otherwise it's dirt. Bacon I can enjoy practically raw or baked to a crisp and it always tastes divine so long as it's not too fatty.
The point is though, you wouldn't go to a restaurant and order bacon and mashed potato with a peppercorn jus, bacon is not a primary meat dish.
You wouldn't go to a restaurant and order a steak and mushroom carbonara. I see your point and agree that it's more of a condiment meat than a full meal on it's own but if I could only ever have one type/cut/style of meat it would be bacon.
