has anyone here had a bash with this? i downloaded the free something out there samples and used
them and found the bass sample quite versatile. thinking about copping the CD. anyone got opinions?

There's a Krust one as well but it sounds like recent Krust and not the dope dragon era Krust. ray
keith's one uses samples from his old actual samplebanks. he says he wanted to put something back in
to the scene and it is fair play

ray keith's 'less is more' approach has always been an inspiration to me. when he says, you know,
there's no point in putting stuff in the track which is not needed, and to just get the few elements banging.
(like, using dry amens, etc; getting the most out of the original feel of the samples). it's a good starting point.

of corse using the sample pack would require less of a 'sparse' approach, i think. but it'd be handy to have
some of those warm harmonic basses and drum sets. a kick up the backside for the sample library

It will probably have some nice sounds on it but you're going to sound like everyone else.

that has rarely stopped anyone before, to be fair. and as a hobbyist, it's not a huge concern to me.

how many tunes have you heard with 'that' fizzy shuffle and/or 'that' pendusnare? countless. infinitudes.
so a lot of this shit boils down to which sound you'd sooner come close to emulating. something has to or
must inspire you.

if anything i think the sample culture is has died down a lot? what i mean is that there was a time you'd hear
a lot of samples used again and again over a variety of genres. but nowadays synths seem more prominent.

that, and i'm a layzy cunt and wud love to fire up some of those basses and just literally plagiarize RK

which is better? are there a lot of basses on the RK one? cheers

i mean if u look at the dread stable a lot of the artists sound like clones of ray keith. but i
still enjoy all their stuff. it's like a band of miniature ray keiths.

if you enjoy that sound then what difference does it make?

He doesn't use dry amens though, on the sample cd there are loads of different variations of the amen all processed differently.

I've heard a mates download of the cd and it's fairly versatile if you want to make something with a similar sound, probably worth a purchase, but if you don't find some other samples or instruments of your own to add then you will just end up making a tune that sounds like Ray Keith and not yours.

What are you trying to say? You've taken my words out of context by only highlighting parts of sentences.
