They cost about the same price to get into and the dj's want paying more, venues and staff probably want paying more. I think that's quite a big part of it, profit margins on events are probably a lot smaller and the risk of not selling enough tickets much larger, the thing the promoter is going to cut costs on first will be all that extra production, lights and stage etc.
