Broken and Uneven Present: The Hydra

After our inaugural launch of events in Spring 2012 Broken & Uneven return to deliver an autumn/winter series that can only be described as mammoth. With 14 concisely programmed events that will fall under the banner of The Hydra (a ‘beast with many heads’ in Greek mythology :D ) there is no doubt that this is something the global nightlife scene will welcome with open arms. Concocted by programming brains from The End and Electric Minds, expect a host of audacious line-ups that involve only the premier labels and collectives in Electronic Music today.

Taking place in an undisclosed East London location, rest assured that everything from the sublime visuals to our bespoke Funktion One sound system (by Sound Services) will be tailored to perfection for each event’s needs. Also to commemorate The Hydra series we have teamed up with clothing brand Supremebeing for a limited edition range of T-shirts that will be equally as eye catching and daring as the line-ups.

The line ups for The Hydra Part 1 are as follows:

The opening party on Friday 24th August will be hosted by Berlin’s Ostgut Ton featuring Marcel Dettmann, Marcel Fengler, Prosumer and Nick Hoppner. The special guest for the night will be Surgeon. If this wasn’t enough to celebrate the launch night we have got some very special live art – an on-the-night mural by infamous street artist Pure Evil whose signature prints are the perfect example of the high standard of creativity that’s bursting from East London’s pores right now. To wet your appetite here is an interview that he did for the BBC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhPzzKmD1x8

The following night on Saturday 25th August our good friends A Bunch of Cuts will be celebrating the album launch for DRS’ new offering on the Marcus Intalex’s Soul:r imprint. ABoC residents Calibre, D Bridge, Doc Scott, Klute, Marcus Intalex, SP:MC and Justyce plus a live performance from DRS, alongside DJ sets from album guests S.P.Y and Dub Phizix and a special Jungle Set from Fabio.

On 15th September we invite Hamburg’s Dial Records to town for a showcase of their labels most discerning acts. Dial's varied stable of Efdemin, Roman Flugel, Lawrence, John Roberts and Christian Naujoks will be joining the proceedings as well as a special guest appearance by Redshape under his Palisade moniker which has seen him release more House-orientated music on Laid, Dial’s vinyl-only sub label.

On Saturday 13th October to celebrate their 5th birthday we have got Deviation putting on a star studded line-up, headlined by Detroit House icon Moodymann. He will be joined by Deviation favourites Dam-funk, Hudson Mohawke, Kode 9 and of course Deviation’s main man Benji B.

On Saturday 27th October for a Halloween special we have got Innervisions vs Permanent Vacation. This will see Ame, Dixon, Tensnake, Todd Terje and Prins Thomas all joining forces under on roof.

On 23rd November we welcome R&S Records showcase which will feature live performances and DJ sets from some new signings as well as recently established label mainstays. The line up for this will be announced shortly so stay tuned....

Finally on Saturday 24th November Boddika’s Non Plus label goes back to back with German label Workshop. Boddika himself will of course be playing and has invited along Skudge, Joy Orbison, Loefah and Endian. From the Workshop side we have got Kassem Mosse, Even Tuell and label boss Lowtec.

So there you have the first seven events – the second half will be release very shortly, but the calibre of labels, collectives, promoters and artists will be maintained with the likes of Bugged Out, Border Community, Bleep.com, Electric Minds and others all set to take a bow as part of the The Hydra.

All are events that carry their own theme yet still fit together in the ever-growing Broken & Uneven puzzle. This mini-festival of sorts will bring a fresh approach to the clubbing in London and provide a creative space for a diverse range of artists and revellers to co-exist under one-roof.

Tickets are available exclusively from Resident Advisor: http://www.residentadvisor.net/promoter.aspx?id=27058
