This year, some of the finest athletes from around the globe will come together to participate in an ancient competition that has spanned generations and become synonymous with the highest levels of achievement and fair-play. Records will be broken. Legends will be made. New-born heroes will stand alongside their brethren in a celebration of everything that is right and decent in the world. I talk, of course, of the DNBA Production Forum BBQ&BASS Competition 2012.

YOUR MISSION
You know the drill by now. Create a tune that is the essence of the forthcoming months. Summer, distilled down into electronic noughts and ones. Any genre, any style. Just make it hot and sticky.

THE RULES
Your finished track must be between 5 and 8 minutes long. It will be posted to me (downloadable links please), before 9am on Monday July 30th. So you have just over a month. After that time I shall collate the entries and get them up on the Soundcloud. It will be stipulated during the vote that top marks should be awarded to the producers that have captured the essence of summer in the most effective way, rather than who's mixdown is crispiest. This is a competition for people of all skill levels, so there's really no excuse for not entering.

THE PRIZE
The winner of this competition will win 10 Trinidad and Tobago Dollars (approximately £1.08, still available from a previous BBQ&BASS) and a signed MP3 of Technicolour's massive 'The Archers Theme Tune VIP'. They will also garner the respect and adulation from literally tens of producers worldwide.
