Yes the cuntydom of it was pretty terrible at times (Viv Craske, then editor, memorably described drum and bass as a bunch of men staring at a DJ - or words to that effect), it would be a little sad. Are there any other clubbing/DJ magazines left? Not seen DJ for donkeys (apparently it still exists - mainly to run yearly popularity contests for trance DJs).
I think sadly, like the wax upon which it regularly opined upon, its time is shifting ever shut. In fairness it was the only way I could keep up with things due to living in the sticks pre-internet, but alas...
I used to read mixmag but stopped when I found that there was far more articles about drugs than music. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the occassional drug or two at the time, but I wanted to read about music, lol.
Also, now that their cds are so readily downloadable free of charge, the last redeeming features of the magazine are gone.
Was he responsible for that dreadful, spelling mistake ridden excuse for an article on Andy C? I was close to posting it back to the office covered in red pen.
agrees the Godfather Of Hardcore, Grooverider. "It's all crap to me 'cos I don't take drugs, I donʼt know how they feel. At the end of the day music's music. For a normal person listening - what's it going to do to you? How's anything going to make you violent?"
