Multiple A-levels, a degree and a masters degree as well as an HND and he still can't get a job.

That should even it out surely, you have all these degrees but you look like chunk from the Goonies only less intellectual - you're hired.

Can't be bothered to read the article as it's the Mail but if you were an employer why would you employ someone over qualified who will constantly be looking for a better job and then you would have to just recruit again once they have found one

Maybe if he'd of spent more time working instead of getting degree's and masters he wouldn't have this problem now.

I do feel a tad sorry for the guy. Imagine being in that situation at that age. If he was like 30 I probably wouldn't give 2 shits.
In regards to the other guy who had applied for 15,000 jobs, he can have a job cleaning the smeg from my cock in the mornings.

You can just leave your degrees off your CV if you want can't you? Should just create two CV's, one for entry level tard jobs and one for proper ones that aren't shit.

This is what I did when I was backpacking around Aus. I had my manual labourer/fork lift/etc CV, and my packaging technologist/lab analyst CV.

What if work for which they are over-qualified is the only work available? Jobs are thin on the ground at the moment - the days of being able to pick and choose which jobs you walk into are long gone, and things are only going to get worse as the economy continues to self-destruct thanks to the Tories austerity bullshit.

It's crazy to think there are graduates out there who would be happy to have some work and earn a bit of money, but would probably lose out on a job oppurtunity in favour of some incompetent pleb because employers are all jittery about the more able attempting to better themselves at some point...

So what? If you were an employer what would you do?
When I came back to the UK this exact thing was happening to me, so I have been in this situation and it's bloody annoying

I think it really comes down to the fact that they want you to be 100% committed to them and by taking on someone with qualifications there is always the danger that if something better comes along they are going to bugger off.

I remember working in a furniture factory about 1998ish and there were lots of blokes there in their 60s that were ex bank managers and other professionals and actually they tended to prefer to employ them over younger people as they were extremely reliable and committed to work, very intelligent and had experience of working, also they would struggle to find work otherwise, seems like its just a development on this.

Init, if he was only applying for graduate jobs and getting nowhere then he'd get slagged off for not applying for ALL jobs and thinking that a qualifications should entitle you to a high-paid job.

I know a lad with a 1st in his degree and a distinction in his masters who's working part time in Tesco cos its all he could get.  Its just shit out there at the moment.

He probably doesnt even exist, I wager he is probably a lifesize cardboard composite of three different faces, created to stir the gaggle of cunts who read the rag. NO one from North Yorkshire will EVER obtain a Masters Degree.

Wrong, but in any case, I'd rather look like that then have to live with the grotesque distortion you call your face m8

The qualifications only show he's good at studying and remembering information,

very different from life-smart
