He used the X1 controller to select tunes, so yeah you don't have to touch your laptop (although he seems to be in the Radio 1 vid)

It's not the same no, but it's about as close as you're going to get in this day and age. SPY wanted to continue to cut dubs and play them out but after about 6 months of doing so, he had to go back to Serato with CDJ's because the state of decks are so poor, especially abroad. London Elek still plays 100% dubs and Vinyl, but he is a stubborn old bugger

I can't believe Andy C is getting slated by certain people, granted one of them is a certified moron so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise. I have actually seen it all on here now

One day when I am old I will organise a big party in a shitty old warehouse with a massive rig and anyone who used to play good drum and bass on vinyl can come and just play tunes until we all just shit ourselves to death

mf182 coming with some serious retardation in this thread.

go back to your wine bar.

Oh my. They're currently stocking this magnificent 1995 French Merlot wine with and incredible power, full depth and richness with an absolute exquisite taste. Quite magnificent. Wonderful! Come my friend, we shall enjoy together.

As an aside, I'm pretty good at physics.

That wine sounds shit. I could make better wine than that easily.

Is it me or is Andy now half as intersting to watch with his new tractor (or whatever) setup ?

Noticed this when I've seen a couple of videos of him on his new setup. Some laptop tosser will probably try to argue for the digital side of things but it just isn't as fun / interesting to use or watch, end of.

The only difference is that he doesn't disappear to his record bag anymore and he doesn't take records off/put records on the turntable anymore. That is literally it. If those things make up half of what you found interesting about watching him DJ then

"Just as good as GQ"

Andy C is the greatest DJ to ever mix dnb. He can do what the fuck he wants. Seeing him rinsing it out on the BBC with GQ, regardless of how poor the tune selection was, has only made me like him more.

Big up Andy C each and every time.

MF182 makes me seem clever.

I'm not surprised at the usual cunts noshing him off for playing 15 year old tunes at a pop concert.

Plus the cost man.... cutting dubs is just not the one anymore. Even for a top DJ there will come a point when they start looking at the cost saving side.

..In addition to your points...

Not that this means anything but looking at their respective facebook pages....

Andy C - 200,000 likes
Chase & Status - 800,000 likes
Pendulum - 1.9m likes

That makes me quite depressed!

Promoters could pay me a 1/3 of what they're paying GQ. It's time they started outsourcing their MC'ing jobs for less. Up and coming MC's like me with a lot of talent are cheap labour man. We'd get the job done. I reckon anyone one of us could've got the Hackney Weekender busting out to those wibbly wob rhythms.

I like how people's intelligence is being judged on the basis of their opinion on a D&B DJ & MC combo, Escapegoat.

What the fuck are you babbling on about.

If your voice is anything like GQ's I'd be very surprised. You're argument holds no weight.

I could probably do exactly what Mark E G does but better. But I'm not him so why the fuck would people pay to see that?

people are missing the point.

i actually watched half of this set just to witness andy c's mixing, despite nearly having to stab my eardrums out with a rusty screwdriver

hes a badman on the decks, and if he played 50/50 good nights to shit nights, id be ecstatic.

what i meant in my OP was that their talents are wasted playing and performing shit music like this.
