Gary Oldman's signed up for it, so there's one saving grace there. The fella playing Murphy will have to do a good job to outshine Peter Weller's performance though.
The problem with remakes is that everybody watches them. They are profitable in a climate where originality is far too risky. Remakes and sequels already have an audience. They're a safe bet. I'll no doubt end up watching this.
'In the first 'RoboCop' when Alex Murphy is shot, you see some hospitals and stuff and then you cut to him as RoboCop,' he said. 'My movie is between those two cuts.
That sentence alone gives me some hope that this won't just be another tired rehash of an 80s classic. Nothing wrong with a remake if you come at it from a different/original direction.
Will be awful. Robocop original is genuinely untouchable. Trying to make it a more serious flick is laughable. What makes it great is the fact that is balances intelligent satire with OTT action and gore. Also, Clarence is the best movie villain of all time... pretty difficult to top that.

But if it's so different... make a new fucking movie. It doesn't need the 'Robocop' tag on it if it's a new premise altogether. Wouldn't take long to develop it enough so people don't say, "this is a rip-off of RoboCop" and instead say, "This has obviously taken some influence from RoboCop". I'd be much happier if people were paying tribute to my favourite films and developing the ideas into new films rather than making something half-new, half-awful reproduction and slapping the same title on it.
IT won't be an 18 for a start and have the gore of the original. It will be shit based on these two facts.
Exactly that. Will no doubt be dulled down quite a bit compared to the original, probably baring more resemblance to RoboCop 3, or in other words.. shit.
I think that the one film that will be going too far would be a 'Jaws' remake.
could only work if it was an emotional melodrama focusing on the bit in between guys going for a swim and being munched by the shark imo
None of that matters if Gary Oldman is in it. In fact... fuck it... every film from now on should just be cameras looking at Gary Oldman for the entire 2 hours from multiple camera angles and it will automatically be good
