I'm looking for a private hire venue for a birthday party in London, preferably South of the river, for around 50-100 people.
Have been having a look online, but there's a huge amount of information out there, and not all of it particularly relevant to what I'm looking for.
I want a private room with it's own bar and own DJ facilities for a weekend night, I have no idea if this is actually even going to be possible? I'd rather not spend a fortune on venue hire and have it covered (at least in part) by bar spend, but wouldn't be averse to paying for a decent place if it was right.
Any ideas/past experience of venues that you can pass on?
i was gonna hire a place near Shorditch for my birthday once. I can’t remember what it was called, but they wanted £2000 minimum bar spend or i’d have to pay the rest so i didn’t bother. Would of been good, but i didn’t want to risk having to fork out a load of money in case we didn’t spend it at the bar
Went to a birthday party here recently: http://www.thecarpentersarmsw1.co.uk/ He had the top floor which holds about 100 I reckon. The venue allowed decks etc. late license and the smoking area is attached to the pub so good interaction between everyone.
recently put an event on at 93feeteast. Was ok, is a little bit of a dive. Owner is a right mong gets all fancy about what music does/does not get played there.
Have scaled back my requirements on this because it was proving to be too much hassle/risk to organise, so now looking for something like a private hire roof terrece or something similar for about 50 people max.
Doesn't need to have it's own DJ/music facilities either now.
The 93 Feet East venue was good, I played on the 3rd floor which I assume is ideally for private hire. It's not very big, probably squeeze in 60 people but it does have a private bar and outside terrace.
Parking is 2 mins away, the bouncers were amusing - walked up to the entrance and as I was being let in one one of the bouncers was inspecting a bag of pills. What his intentions were I have no idea! Friendly enough though.
Only downside is that you can't open the windows and it has no air con so as you can imagine, I was roasting behind the decks.
The club supplied Techincs and a nice little scratch mixer (can't remember the make of it, wasn't a shit one)
